Yama no Susume Season 4 was originally teased at a September 2019 fall festival in Japan. At the time, anime fans were celebrating the possibility of Climbing Encouragement Season 4, but some hoped the new project would be a Yama no Susume movie.
After all, the details available until March 2021 were quite meager. The only thing that was finally confirmed in 2019 was that production has started for a new project in the anime series Yama no Susume.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone who came to the Autumn Festival. Start climbing to a new project! We have announced a new start for Yama no Susume,” wrote anime producer SMIRAL on his official Twitter account. “We will continue to live up to the expectations of the many fans!”
Sometimes when the early announcements for an anime project are so vague, it means the next sequel will be a movie. Recent examples include the Goblin Slayer movie, Made In Abyss movie, and the KonoSuba movie, both of which adapted the next installment in their respective stories for the manga/light novel series rather than being adapted by regular episodes.
Directed by Yusuke Yamamoto in animation studio 8-bit, the last season aired about a year ago. The story follows Aoi Yukimura, Hinata Kuraue and their friends as they go for a walk and enjoy life together.
According to the official Twitter account, Encouragement of Climb Season 4 will again be directed by Yamamoto and starring Yuka Iguchi as Aoi and Kana Asumi as Hinata. Yuusuke Matsuo returns as character designer.
The encouragement of climb season 4 OP (opening) and ED (ending) theme song music has not yet been announced.
