Bids to sell Kim Sing Theater
In 2014, Ford put his property of the Kim Sing Theater in Los Angeles, which he purchased in 1999, up for sale. for $4.5 million.
Built in 1926, the theater was used to host movies and vaudeville performances.
Ford redesigned it with the help of XTen Architects. He created a courtyard, a three-story storey, retail space, large kitchen, and AV room, preserving the truss ceilings and initial neon cinema marquee.
For 15 years, Ford used the building as an event space, a fashion and furniture showroom, and as his residence. Kim Sing Theater was used to host corporate events for Star Wars, Pepsi, Grammys and BMW.
Ford moved his marketing and sales office, Flagship, from this building to the Fashion District in downtown LA
Real estate experts felt that this Chinatown property is ideal for a musician who could use it as a recording studio, or an actor who could make it their downtown base.
Sold for $3.3 million
Kim Sing Theater was purchased from Willard Ford by the Indra and Co. business group. from Ash Pathi for $3.3 million in 2016. Ford had bought the space for $300,000.
Willard net worth is not known to the public.
