Early life and career beginnings
David Paul is of Norwegian descent and grew up alongside a younger brother in Moline, where their father was a doctor. At a young age, both brothers aspired to careers as actors, which they would later pursue upon completion of their respective educations. David’s first project was in an episode of the show “Twenty Good Years” where he worked as a stunt double.
He continued to work as part of the stunt team for several other shows and landed more notable projects over the years, including “The Young and the Restless”, “The Mentalist”, and “Bones”.
Aside from his stunt work, he threw himself into voice acting early on, with one of his first projects being the video game “Resistance 2”, a first-person shooter game released for PlayStation 3 that served as the sequel to “Resistance: Val from the human”. He also lent his voice to the movie “G force”.
Continued stunt and acting work
In 2009, Olsen had a small role in the movie “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”, playing a member of the Strike Force alongside Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson. The film is a sequel to 2007’s ‘Transformers’ and continues the story two years after the events of the original film. The film received mixed reviews for not having the same depth and appeal as the first film.
Despite this, the film was a success at the box office, making it one of the highest-grossing films that year.
Then he moved on to the stunt projects, working on “Community”, “True Blood” and “Extant”. In 2010, he was hired to be part of the stunt team for “NCIS: Los Angeles”. The show is a spin-off of “NCIS”, starring LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell. Due to his resemblance to his brother Eric Christian Olsen who is a regular cast member of the show, he has done his stunts and acted as his double. His long tenure on the show has also spawned a few cameo appearances, mostly playing minor unnamed and uncredited characters.
Two other recent projects are “Swiss Army Man” and “The Nun”.
Wife – Daniela Ruah
Daniela was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and is of Jewish descent. Both her parents worked in the medical field, although they only spent a short time in the US after she was born, eventually moving back to Portugal where she began her training. During her time there, she developed a strong interest in acting, which was supported by her parents. She trained in both dancing and acting, which led to her entering a national dance competition. She then starred in several telenovelas.

Wanting to further expand her range and skills, she moved to the UK at the age of 18 to enroll at London Metropolitan University where she became part of the performing arts programme.
She also worked in local productions there, and after college, she moved to New York City, where she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute. Her first project in the US after completing her education was a guest appearance on “Guiding Light”, and was later cast as a member of the team of “NCIS: Los Angeles”. The team first appeared in an introductory episode in “NCIS”, before the spin-off officially launched in 2009.
The success of Daniela Ruah
Ruah continued as a cast member of “NCIS: Los Angeles”, with many of the original cast members also still on the show; she plays the role of the only female Field Agent on the team. Her character is the daughter of a Marine and spent some time on the streets during her childhood after her father’s death, as she never really knew her mother. She often works as an undercover agent and is also a skilled sniper. She is not afraid to use all her resources at her disposal, even her sexuality. As the show progresses, she develops a romance with Marty Deeks, played by her husband’s brother, and the two got married in Season 10.
She also reprized her character in a crossover episode with “Hawaii Five-0”, which exists within the same universe. The police procedural show, as the name implies, is set in Hawaii and also consists of other similar shows created by Peter M. Lenkov. Some of her recent projects include theatrical work, appearing in the play “Proof” staged in Los Angeles. She also appeared as the host of the “Eurovision Song Contest 2018”, together with Filomena Cautela, Silvia Alberto and Catarina Furtado – the competition was held that year in Lisbon, Portugal.
Private life
David Paul met Daniela on the set of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” and the two began dating. They had a child in 2013 that got them engaged, and she married the following year in Portugal, where he held an interfaith wedding, as Ruah is a Jew and Olsen is a Lutheran. Two years later they had a second child. Due to their work, the couple often makes efforts to organize workouts for the family to keep them fit. Their children participate in some of these sessions, as can be seen on Ruah’s social media accounts.
