Who is Sharon “Sevn” Strickland from “Baking It” Season 2
Sharon “Sevn” Strickland, 24, will soon be featured on Peacock’s grueling culinary contest Baking It, where she and her companion Kandyy will compete for $50,000. The pair will be one of eight home cooks trying to impress four “judgmental” grandparents with their treats. Sevn originally planned to pursue a profession in cosmetology, but due to family issues, Sharon chose not to enroll in a beauty school 7 hours away from Kandyy and her ailing mother. Kandyy and her husband were homeless for a while after her mother died and sometimes slept with her relatives.
Sevn and Kandyy then chose to move from their respective hometowns to Charlotte in 2018, where Sven started selling cosmetics. She despised her work and after years of battle melancholy, she decided to retire in 2020, and one day she took a pan to prepare cupcakes. After trying a recipe, the Baking It competitor realized she had never done anything like it before and devised a business strategy on the spot. She went to Walmart with $25 to buy “strawberries, some chocolate, some little sparkle things, some flowers, sugar.” She originally chose to develop some specific goods for the cakes before shifting her focus to the cakes themselves. Her bakery business, The Cake Florist, is now booming, offering its consumers a variety of items, including personalized cakes, cupcakes and macarons, which will be featured on Baking It.
A contestant on Baking It Strickland, Sharon “Sevn”, was born in Alabama.
Sharon “Sevn” Strickland was born in Montgomery, Alabama, and was only 7 months old when her father died. Sven was harassed at school because of her weight, and her family turned toxic when her stepfather died when Sharon was just seven years old. Sevn chose to temporarily move to Rocky Mount after meeting Kandyy on Instagram to take care of Kandyy’s ailing mother. Sharon therefore decided not to attend Atlanta beauty school which was 7 hours away from Kandyy and instead planned to go to Charlotte with her partner’s family as the new city also offered a reputable school in the same profession.
Kandyy’s mother died in 2018 due to kidney disease. After a disagreement with the landlord, Kandyy and Sharon were evicted from their house. After a period of living in relatives’ motels and homes, the couple moved to Charlotte “with $800 and a bunch”. When one of Kandyy’s aunts volunteered to pay for Sevn’s beauty school, he accepted. Sharon started her career as a cosmetics artist and the majority of her clientele were sex workers. In an interview, she said her clients were largely “brats” and she had to leave her profession because of her mental health. Sevn chose to start her own baking business in 2020 and she can currently be seen on Season 2 of Baking It.
What did Kandyy think of Sevn’s cooking?
Kandyy currently teaches swimming at the British Swim School and is passionate about home remedies. She admitted that she was “forced to bake.” She also said that Sven owns the kitchen.
“I’m only allowed in if she needs help. Even when she needs help, I get in her way. “Okay, give it here, I’ll do it,” she says.
Season 2 of Baking It premieres on Peacock on Monday, December 12 at 3:01 a.m. ET.
