Netflix’s Buying Beverly Hills is a fresh new reality TV show that recently debuted on the streaming service. The series will highlight the best of LA real estate, focusing on Mauricio Umansky’s The Agency and the individuals who helped make it a success. Mauricio Umansky is hardly a new face to the world of reality television. Kyle Richards from RHOBH (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) is his wife. Mauricio and his two daughters, Farrah and Alexia, who will be seen with him in Buying Beverly Hills, were previously seen at RHOBH.
By purchasing Beverly Hills, viewers will be exposed to a slew of staffers who work with Mauricio and his children. Santiago Arana, The Agency’s lead and managing partner, is one of them. He is also the sixth most successful broker in the country, with many multi-billion dollar trades.
Santiago Arana of Buying Beverly Hills grew up in Bolivia and worked as a waiter in Los Angeles.
Born in Bolivia, Santiago Arana was working on his first job after graduating from university when he heard gunshots. This was not only annoying for him, but also a wake-up call. Then his parents decided that he should leave the country and return after things calmed down. The Buying Beverly Hills star then got a scholarship to study finance, but the course was taught in English, which he didn’t understand. But it didn’t stop him from moving to the United States and sleeping on his aunt’s couch for eight months. He only had $120 in his pocket at the time.
In a DIGS podcast, Santiago discussed his hardships and how he became successful. Not speaking English, the Buying Beverly Hills actor began working as a busboy. Four months after he started studying the language, he was promoted to waiter when he met his future wife. After learning about real estate from his relative, he took the plunge. He got his driver’s license and started working. But in the beginning it was not perfect. Santiago confessed that at some point people stopped buying real estate and he was out of money.
In 2012, the real estate market started to grow and had built a reputation in the sector; the Wall Street Journal named him one of the top 250 brokers in the United States. He has been on the list every year since then.
Together with Billy Rose and Mauricio Umansky, he joined The Agency in 2013 as Principal and Managing Partner. He has collaborated with superstars such as LeBron James and Lady Gaga. He has also surpassed other records and is on his way to surpassing $500 million in sales. According to The Agency’s official website, Santiago was named the winner of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals® Latino Agent Award for Sales Volume. He has also been named one of the most influential people in real estate by the Los Angeles Business Journal for the past two years in a row. Santiago has completed nearly $4 billion in real estate transactions to date. From 2017 to 2021, he made approximately $2.5 billion in sales.
