This Christmas season, Food Network is debuting its fresh new reality TV culinary competition, Bake It ‘Til You Make It. The upcoming series will premiere on Monday, December 26, 2022 at 8pm ET/7pm CT, one day after Christmas. Bake It ‘Til You Make It revolves around seven ‘passionate’ bakers competing for a chance to win. Donavon “Monty” Alderman, a former football player and high school coach, is one of seven bakers competing.
According to the official synopsis of the kitchen reality TV show:
“The Food Network leaves the studio to follow seven talented amateur bakers. They set out to compete in baking competitions across the country, all while chasing the best taste in the world: winning.”
Monty’s sporting career took a detour a few years ago when he chose to pursue a career in baking, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Monty from Bake It ‘Til You Make It transitioned from athletics to baking and became a culinary instructor.
Monty from Bake It ‘Til You Make It owns Monty’s Neighborhood Snacks, where he teaches culinary workshops. Monty’s professional Instagram feed states that his catchphrase is:
“Bringing sweets to the street, cupcake and smile at the same time.”
Monty’s company has an Instagram account called @montsneighborhoodandsnacks. He has over 2400 followers and often posts photos and videos of his baking adventures and work. Monty shares everything and is very active on Instagram, from cakes to desserts and other baked goodies. He also teaches a cooking class where he teaches his students a 4 to 12 course meal plan. According to one of his Instagram posts:
“The culinary unit gets 4-12 lessons with direct education. These programs teach strategies that help anyone develop and improve their kitchen skills. The 8-week course covers everything from quiche to pasta. All classes are fun and stimulating.”
In addition, he offers a hands-on cooking session in which students work in small groups to prepare a meal together with the teacher. Monty also has an Instagram account from a local business called @hoodsnacksde where he shares the same things.
According to his website, he characterizes his business as follows:
“Monty’s Neighborhood Snacks is a small, family-owned bakery company with a mission to help improve the quality of life for everyone by providing great snacks while teaching survival, living, education and career skills through community service.”
His bakery business has been featured on various culinary and travel websites around the country. Travel Noir Magazine named it one of the top 50 bakeries in the United States.
