Jason Scott Lee is an American actor and martial artist, best known worldwide as Bruce Lee in the movie “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story” (1993), and as Mowgli in the movie “The Jungle Book” (1994). ), based on the novel of the same name.

Jason Scott Lee was born on November 19, 1966 in Los Angeles, California, USA, the son of Robert Lee and his wife, Sylvia; Jason, of Chinese and Hawaiian descent, spent his childhood in Hawaii and attended Pearl City High School.

While in high school, Jason became interested in acting, and after graduating from college, enrolled at Fullerton College in California. He began studying acting under coach Sal Romeo.

Career start

Jason’s career began in the mid-1980s with a small role in the TV series “The A-Team” (1986), while he had another small role in 1987, this time in the movie “Born in East LA”. He went on to small roles in movies and TV series, such as “Back to the Future Part II” in 1989, then in the movie “Ghoulies Go to College” (1990), and in the television movie “The Lookalike”, also in 1990.

At the beginning of the 1990s, his career started to improve and in 1992 he had his first starring role, as Avik in the romantic drama film “Map of the Human Heart”, with Anne Parillaud and Patrick Bergin.

Rise to fame

Jason was now on the rise and in 1993 he was cast in his career role, as Bruce Lee in the biopic film “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story” for which he received great reviews and also earned a number of award nominations. The following year, Jason had another great performance as an actor, when he was selected for the role of Mowgli in the movie “The Jungle Book”.

Before the end of the 90s, Jason acted in a few more hit movies, such as the thriller drama movie “Murder in Mind” (1997), then the fantasy horror “Tale of the Mummy” (1998), and he also co-starred with Kurt Russell and Jason Isaacs in Paul WS Andersen’s sci-fi drama film “Soldier” (1998).

Career decline

With the early 2000s, Jason’s career began to decline, though he continued to push into the mid-decade. His most memorable role during this period was as Father Uffizi in the horror film “Dracula II: Ascension”, which he reprized two years later in another sequel “Dracula III: Legacy” (2005).

Also, in 2003, he starred in the sci-fi action movie “Timecop: The Berlin Decision”. Through 2010, Jason also appeared in the films “Balls of Fury” (2007) and “Dance of the Dragon” (2008), but then failed to land a significant role until the mid-2010s, when he returned to the big screen. with a role in the action-adventure movie “Seventh Son”, starring Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges. In recent years, Jason starred in several movies, including the action adventure “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny” (2016), then the comedy-drama “Burn Your Maps” (2016), and co-starred in the action drama “Mulan”, starring Yifei Liu, Donnie Yen and Jet Li, among others.
