Season 21 of American Idol comes out in less than a day. Fans will be exposed to a new batch of candidates who arrive hoping to impress the judges with their audition. The first round of auditions for the famed reality TV talent show series will air on ABC on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, American Idol returns for Season 21 with returning judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. The format of this season remains unchanged from previous seasons. Season 21 of American Idol kicks off with auditions, followed by Hollywood Week. Candidates that pass will compete in the Showcase Round, followed by the Top 24. The qualified singers will then have the opportunity to perform in the live concerts for America’s vote. In the end, only the contestant with the most votes will be declared the title winner. Haven Madison, the 21st season of American Idol, is the daughter of Jason Roy, Building 429’s lead vocalist.

Haven Madison is a teenager from Clarksville, Tennessee. She was chosen as America’s Platinum ticket at the prestigious American Music Awards at a young age. As a matter of fact, Haven is the daughter of Jason Roy of the Grammy-nominated Christian contemporary band Building 429.

Haven grew up in a tour van, according to her Spotify profile. Her father, who was often on the road, brought his family, so she was homeschooled until a certain age. Haven discovered her love for music while on tour with her father. She has previously released some of her own songs, such as her EP All the Things I Didn’t Say, which features a duet with her own brother. Haven spoke in an exclusive interview with Clarksville Now about her first gig and how her father pushed her to do it:

“‘Go out and sing with him!’ he insisted. Absolutely not, I said. “I’ll give you $20 if you go there!” he offered. And he did! “I’ll give you $40 if you go out and sing like you’re already here,” he added.

She talked about her most memorable performance when she opened for Hill Fest:

“Haven Madison: Opening,” it read. It was surreal to see my name on the shirts; someone asked me to sign everything and they wanted to take a picture with me. “What is this world?” I wondered. And there was my first moment when I thought: here is my brand.

She revealed the following about her American Idol audition:

“I walked in and thought, ‘Dude, I’m probably gonna come over here, sing my song, thanks for coming, get out now.’ I was still convinced this was a hoax until I faced the three jurors.”
