Next level chef returns to Fox for its second season on Sunday, February 12. The new season sees 18 contestants split into six-person teams competing for a $250,000 grand prize under the tutelage of Gordon Ramsay, Nyesha Arrington, and Richard Blais. Alex Morizio, a 48-year-old home chef, is one of six members of team Nyesha Arrington. He is the Regional Medical Director of the ICC Intensivist Group in Miami. His role, according to his LinkedIn page, is to “review and guide critical care unit procedures at underserved institutions.” He is also responsible for recruiting ICU physicians and fostering connections between healthcare providers. Alex is also responsible for quality measures in his hospital, such as sepsis mortality and ICU length.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, Next Level Chef candidate Alex Morizio started his own food series on Instagram.

Alex Morizio was born in Brooklyn and currently lives in Miami. In 1993, he graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Alex then enrolled at Ross University School of Medicine to pursue his doctorate in medicine, graduating in 2002. He then completed his training at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he decided he wanted to work in intensive care. He said in an interview:

“I graduated from an internal medicine residency program and immediately fell in love with ICU medicine, so I went on a three-year pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Maimonides.”

Morizio moved south in 2008 to become the regional medical director of the ICC Intensivist Group. He was also interested in the financial side of the health profession, so he attended the University of Miami and earned an MBA in health management and policy. Alex performed in comedy clubs in the Miami area before the pandemic, and when the clubs had to close due to the lockdown, she decided to start a cooking series on Instagram Live. In an interview he stated:

“I still wanted to entertain people and connect with them. So one night on a whim I turned on the camera and everyone started watching the cooking show.”

Cooking With Al premiered on April 22, 2020 and he posts new episodes every Tuesday on his Instagram account. He also hosts the Take a Sip podcast.

Season 2 of Next Level Chef

Next Level Chef is a unique culinary challenge featuring three separate kitchens with different situations, where each chef must complete the assigned tasks while trying to prepare the best meals possible. The winner of the contest will receive a cash prize of $250,000, a year’s internship with the mentors, and bragging rights.

“Chefs Gordon Ramsay, Nyesha Arrington and Richard Blais select exceptional chefs and guide them as they take on unusual cooking challenges in a unique culinary gauntlet in search of the food world’s next superstar.”

Next Level Chef airs on Fox on Sunday, February 12 at 10:30 p.m. ET, after the Super Bowl. After that, the schedule will return to its regular Thursday night timeslot of 8:00 PM ET. Following the broadcast debut, fans will be able to follow the game live on Fox’s website.
