Gregory Carlton Anthony was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on November 15, 1967 – his zodiac sign is Scorpio and he is an American national. He is a retired basketball player who is currently employed at NBA TVand also at Turner Sports as their TV analyst.

Early life and education

Greg grew up an only child in Las Vegas, where he was raised by his father, who was a police officer, and his mother, who taught at a local high school. He became interested in politics at age 11 after watching related shows on TV with his father, and dreamed of becoming Nevada’s first black senator.

Greg attended Rancho High School, where he began playing basketball for his school’s team, and after graduating from high school, enrolled at the University of Portland, where he became the top freshman player in Oregon. He soon transferred to study at the University of Nevada, where he began playing for the Runnin’ Rebels team that went on to defeat The Duke Blue Devils at the 1990 NCAA Championship. In the next game, Greg broke his jaw, but played almost all games of the season. When HBO decided to make the movie “Runnin’ Rebels of UNLV”, Greg was invited to star in it.

While in college, Greg spent his summers working, taking his first job at the World Economic Summit, while also running his own clothing company during his sophomore year, and the money he made from it was enough for Greg to pay for study. In 1989, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

Career as a basketball player

In 1991, Greg was called up to play for the New York Knicks in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as their defensive specialist.

He stayed with them for four years before transferring to the Vancouver Grizzlies in 1995 where he stayed for two seasons and then switched to playing for the Seattle Super Sonics and stayed with them for one year.

In 1998 Greg played for The Portland Trail Blazers and in 1999 he joined the Chicago Bulls and stayed with them until 2000. His last team was the Milwaukee Bucks he played with until 2002 when he retired. After his retirement, Greg was invited by the ESPN network to work as their basketball analyst for the NBA. He began working as a college basketball analyst in December 2009 and joined the CBS Sports division of the CBS network, and in 2012 became the commentator on the YES Network, where he primarily covered the Brooklyn Nets team.

Greg can also be heard in the video game “NBA 2K16” where he voiced a commentator. He is interested in politics and was a supporter of Barack Obama in 2008, but then supported Mitt Romney in the 2012 election.

Love life and wife

Greg married his college sweetheart Crystal McCraryAnthony shortly after graduating, and she gave birth to their daughter in 1992, with their son following in 1994. After nearly six years of marriage, the two divorced due to what appears to be Greg’s infidelity. In the first half of 2000, Greg married Chere Lucas Anthony, a dermatologist, and she gave birth to their daughter in 2007 and their son in 2009.

Dr. Chere R. Lucas Anthony has a degree in dermatology, and specializes in cosmetic procedures, pediatric dermatology and dermatological surgery. She attended Dartmouth College, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, continued her education at Duke University’s School of Medicine, and then attended Case Western University to complete her dermatology major. While attending Duke University, she won a Stead Fellowship Award.

Greg’s trouble with the authorities

On January 16, 2015, Greg offered $80 to an undercover cop posing as a prostitute. and was arrested and charged with looking for a prostitute.

Banned from working at CBS for over a year, he resumed work in March 2016, while the court ruled that Greg must volunteer 32 hours and receive four months’ probation in order to drop the charges. His marriage to Chere was tested by this, but the two still stayed together.

Hobbies and other interests

Greg is interested in many other sports such as American football, soccer and tennis, while also playing lacrosse and table tennis. He is an avid swimmer, going to the gym four to five times a week to stay in shape.

He enjoys watching movies in his spare time, and some of his favorite actors and actresses are Dustin Hoffman, Tom Cruise and Valeria Golino, and favorite movies include “Rain Man”, “Pulp Fiction” and “The Expendables”. Some of the TV series he prefers to watch are ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Prison Break’. He loves to travel, and he and Chere have been all over the US together while spending some of their vacations in Greece and Spain in Europe. They are both animal lovers and currently have two pet dogs.

Greg is currently committed to raising his children and Chere’s and teaching them how to play football and basketball, but he has promised that he will not force a career on them, but that he will let them decide what they want to be when they be big once.
