Who is Tyler Mane?

Daryl Karolat was born on December 8, 1966 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He has become a former professional wrestler actor, probably best known for his role as Michael Myers in the “Halloween” remake, along with the sequel “Halloween II”. He also portrayed Ajax in “Troy” and Sabretooth in “X-Men”.

Tyler Mane’s net worth

As of mid-2020, Tyler Mane’s net worth is estimated to be over $2 million, primarily earned through success in the acting profession. He also made money during his professional career in wrestling, but most of his wealth came from high-profile roles in movies.

Beginning of early life, education and career

Tyler grew up in Saskatoon and spent most of his childhood there, during which time he became very interested in professional wrestling, although he didn’t see it as a career until after he graduated from high school. He attended Walter Murray Collegiate Institute and soon after began wrestling and traveled to Calgary to find schools to teach him. He began training with several well-known names from around the country, including Stu Hart, Red Bastien, and Mando Guerrero.

In 1986, he made his professional wrestling debut in Canada under the name Skywalker Nitron. The following year he wrestled in South Africa, and the opportunity there proved fruitful, as he was hired by British company Joint Promotions. He wrestled with them for a year and then was invited to tour for New Japan Pro Wrestling, taking the name Gully Gaspar. He worked in a trio alongside Barry and Billy, all three with pirate tricks and recognizable by wearing hockey masks. He also began making guest appearances in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) around this time.

Retirement from wrestling

Although Mane didn’t have much of a presence in WCW, he was known as the bodyguard of Woman and Doom in 1989 and appeared in Starrcade 1989. After working there, he returned to Japan to tour with All Japan Pro Wrestling, in which he was part was part of the World’s Strongest Tag Determination League, an annual tag team tournament hosted by the promotion. He then moved to wrestle in Puerto Rico, before settling in Mexico where he had a contract with the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libra.

In 1993, he finally got his contract with WCW, took the name Big Sky, and formed a tag team with Vinnie Vegas; Vegas would later move to the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) under the name Diesel, leaving him behind.

This got him lost in the shuffle and started wrestling again in the independent scene. One of his last promotions was in the Universal Wrestling Federation in which he won a championship. After the promotion was lifted, he decided to quit wrestling altogether as he could never really find the right opportunities to make him a star.

Acting career

One of the reasons that motivated Tyler to leave professional wrestling was acting, as he got his first chance while in Mexico, as the villain of the local movie “Luchadores de las Estrellas”.

Failing to get any opportunities at WCW, he focused on auditions and appeared on the show “Smokey and the Bandit”. After his retirement, he rose to prominence when it came to acting, first gaining attention for his portrayal of the Marvel Comics character Sabretooth in the movie “X-Men” released in 2000, and with an ensemble cast, which received positive reviews. thanks to the accurate depiction of the beloved franchise.

In subsequent years, he worked on “How to Make a Monster,” “Joe Dirt,” Hercules,” and “The Scorpion King,” in which he teamed up with then-professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who played the titular character.

The movie is a spin-off of the “Mummy” movie franchise, which takes place before the events of the original movie and gives background to the Scorpion King. He also appeared in the movie “Troy”, portraying the character Ajax in an adaptation of the story of the Trojan War based on Homer’s narration in his novel “Iliad”. It tells the story of the Greek army that invaded the city of Troy – the film was very successful and became one of the highest grossing in 2004.

Recent projects

Mane continued his success in acting when he was cast as the murderer Michael Myers in the “Halloween” remake directed by Rob Zombie.

In preparation for the role, he watched all of the previous “Halloween” movies, taking note of the character’s personality and actions. With the role, he became the tallest man to portray Myers, later appearing in “Halloween 2”, becoming the only actor to portray him in back-to-back films and in more than one film.

He eventually started his own production company in 2013, with the help of his wife Leslie Easterbrook – Mane Entertainment started making movies starting with the supernatural horror/thriller “Compound Fracture”.

He then worked on the independent feature film “Abnormal Attraction” in which he co-starred with his wife and Malcolm McDowell. One of his latest projects is the comedy movie “Playing with Fire” based on a story by writer Dan Ewen, in which he appears alongside former professional wrestler turned actor John Cena.

Private life

Tyler married Jean Goertz in 1988 and they remained together for 15 years before divorcing for unknown reasons, at least publicly. A few years later, he met and started a relationship with actress Renae Geerlings, who is known for appearing with him in “Halloween II” and “Compound Fracture”. They married in 2007; they have no children.
