Vans X Sailor Moon Sneakers Shoe Design Reportedly Leaked, Leads to Collaboration Rumor for Cosmos Movie
Sailor Moon social media groups, especially on Twitter, are buzzing with the rumor that Sailor Moon is getting a Van X Sailor Moon collaboration for some stylish, magical sneakers.
Unofficial sources claim that the new line of Sailor Moon sneakers will launch this fall 2022.
This rumor first started on Reddit when someone claimed that “a fashion store employee said” they were coming.
Moonies are eager for more official Sailor Moon shoe collaborations
Moonies (fans of the Sailor Moon franchise) have had “Official Sailor Moon Themed Vans” at the top of their wish list for a while now. Especially since the other Sailor Moon collaborations sold out way too quickly. In 2020, Sketchers teamed up with Sailor Moon and released two pairs of adorable sandals inspired by Luna and Artemis.
Sketchers released a number of other sandals before, but they weren’t as popular because they looked more like “house slippers” than actual shoes you could walk in.
These flip flops were released by Sketchers Thailand along with some other fashion pieces such as t-shirts. These summery flip flops come in the colors of the “inner scouts”.
In China 2021, Sketchers released limited-edition Sailor Moon sneakers that showcased all the colors of the inner scouts. Sadly those weren’t released in the US, but if you search eBay you might still be able to find some of the elusive shoes.
On May 3, 2022, Sailor Moon News (@OchibaWolf) tweeted about another leaked Vans X Sailor Moon shoe design. This one is more “classic old school”.
On May 2, 2022, Sailor Moon News (@Ochibawolf) tweeted how someone’s husband told them the Vans X Sailor Moon collab is for their skateboard line. The model is named “The Lizzy” after a female pro skater and her signature appears on the tongue. The Pop Cush is Van’s exclusive skateboard insole.

Leaked designs coincide with Sailor Moon’s pearl anniversary
The timing of these leaked Sailor Moon X Vans designs seems to be strategic due to the fact that the Sailor Moon anime is celebrating their “pearl” 30e birthday. In honor of this, the final arc of Naoko Takeuchi’s original manga, Show Galactica arc, is getting a two-part anime film titled Gekijoban Bishojo Sensei Sailor Moon Cosmos (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos The Movie).
The Cosmos film will premiere in Japan in the summer of 2023. A trailer for the upcoming movie can be seen here:

On June 3, 2022, Netflix began streaming the two-part Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie. The film takes the place of a fourth season for Sailor Moon Crystal. The films relate to the Dead Moon arc of Takeuchi’s manga.
In April 2016, the third season of Sailor Moon Crystal premiered and streamed on Crunchyroll, Niconico, and Hulu. The three streaming services aired the first two seasons overseas when they debuted online in Japan. Netflix is also streaming Sailor Moon Crystal right now, so now is the time to binge watch.
