Ten startups have emerged from Curtin University’s 12-week Accelerate program, which spans healthcare, education, mining and technology.

The cohort for 2023 is Wata Watcha, Procuracon, Care Corner, Luddi, Heal Domain, Rock AI, Matilda Health, Insole Lab, STEM XR and Speed ​​Signature.

Several are already generating customer revenue, and together they share $100,000 in equity-free funding, backed by Lotterywest through Spacecubed’s IdeaStarter fund.

The Western Australian University program provides early-stage start-ups with seed capital and access to Curtin’s industry connections and resources, in addition to support and mentorship.

procuracon is a web app that improves the procurement process for construction. Co-founder Cuong Ly teamed up with Andrew McColgan to improve the process after experiencing first-hand how much time and money was wasted.

“Our search algorithms and intuitive procurement UX design are much more engaging and make it easy for customers to instantly find, rate and shortlist suppliers,” said Ly.

“The platform gives customers access to all meaningful data needed to make informed business decisions as they build teams for their projects and manage risk.”

Meanwhile, Tamara Berryman set out to address the oft-missed household leaks before they cause damage and wastewater with her appliance. What Watcha.

“Nearly 60% of Australians have or know someone who has experienced water damage, which is more common and more expensive than fire or burglary,” she said.

“It occurred to me, if we have security systems and smoke detectors, why don’t we have something to detect water leaks?”

Dr. Geremy Farr-Wharton, manager of Curtin Entrepreneurs Programs, said the companies involved have impressed this year with their speed to get to market.

“The recent Curtin Accelerate Pitch Night was attended by over 100 members of Perth’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and potential investors and showcased the remarkable progress of each startup and their potential to disrupt their respective industries.”

“I was particularly impressed with the quality of the presentations at the annual Pitch Night, the best I’ve seen in the 10 years I’ve been involved with the program.”

The 10 startups that emerged from Curtin Accelerate are:

• Care angle – a digital platform that gives healthcare providers peace of mind and records data to inform healthcare decisions.

• heal domain – provides the missing piece in the puzzle of chronic pain management, empowering both the practitioner and the patient to reimagine the patient experience and create better outcomes of care.

• VOTE XR – leverages the immersive potential of virtual and related immersive reality technology to create a robust and scalable way to connect Western Australian and Australian students with relevant STEM experiences.

• Matilda – an evidence-based digital platform that provides holistic care to people with endometriosis from the comfort of their own home.

• Luddi – develops assistive technologies for people with disabilities that they can be proud of, including the world’s first sex toy suitable for all bodies.
• What Watcha – is easy to install, gives access to real-time water consumption data and instantly detects water leaks in households as they cause damage and cost money, while also saving water.
• Procuracon – a web app that improves the construction procurement process, making it easier for developers, land and building owners and government agencies to find suitably qualified suppliers.

• Insole Lab – a health-tech startup that uses artificial intelligence to make custom insoles more affordable and accessible.

• Speed ​​signature – a disruptive SaaS technology, founded by former Wallabies strength and conditioning coach Jason Weber, that is revolutionizing the way athletes are guided in the sport through the analysis of the biomechanics of individual movements.

• Rock AI – delivers highly accurate, intelligent characterization of ore and rock in real time, enhancing mining models to reduce waste and enable greater recovery of critical minerals.
• Animate infinity – develops and delivers immersive training on aggression prevention and management using virtual reality technologies.
