Born Vincent Neil Wharton on February 8, 1961 in Hollywood, California, USA, of Mexican and Native American descent, he is the son of Clois ‘Odie’ Wharton and his wife Shirley. He faced many problems during his childhood, such as moving around the US a lot, living in Inglewood, Watts and then Glendora where the family settled. He attended Sunflower Intermediate School and then enrolled at Royal Oak High School.
During his high school days Vince took his first steps towards becoming a professional musician, but was also interested in basketball, surfing, wrestling and football, among others.
Before Motley Crue, Vince was a member of the band Rock Candy for two years, after which he joined Motley Crue, with the help of his high school friends, Tommy Lee, the band’s drummer.
