Who is Seraina Schonenberger?
Born on October 4, 1984 in Zurich, Switzerland, Seraina Fai Schonenberger is a former model, but probably best known to the public as the wife of musician Mick Mars. Her husband is one of the founding members of the rock band Motley Crue and the group’s lead guitarist. He has established himself in the rock scene as one of the most aggressive guitarists in terms of his lead guitar style.
The Wealth of Seraina Schonenberger
As of early 2020, Seraina Schonenberger’s net worth is estimated to be over $500,000, largely earned through success as a model, having worked for various publications, companies and brands, especially during her time in Switzerland.
She is also likely benefiting from her husband’s success, with Mick having an estimated net worth of over $70 million, largely earned from his success as a member of Motley Crue.
Life and career
Seraina grew up in Zurich and became interested in the fashion world at a young age. She aspired to become a model, and after completing her education, she did just that, eventually finding work in the profession. She posed for local magazines and was eventually encouraged to compete for the title of Miss Zurich.
She won the beauty pageant, got the chance to compete in Miss Switzerland and hopefully the chance to compete in one of the world’s prestigious beauty pageants.
She couldn’t win the game, but got enough attention to get more chances. She mainly worked in Switzerland and appeared in magazines and advertisements for various brands. Her fame and income made her regularly visit the US, and in 2007 she met the Motley Crue at one of their concerts, as she is a huge fan of the band. After meeting Mick Mars, the two stayed connected and eventually started dating.
Husband – Mick Mars
During his childhood, Mick’s family moved around, through various locations in Indiana before finally settling in Garden Grove, California.
At a young age, he aspired to success in the music industry, learning to play the guitar and imagining himself playing with bands. He joined several 1970s rock bands with influences from the blues genre, but did not receive much attention. Meanwhile, he worked on various odd jobs to make ends meet.
He was frustrated for nearly a decade at never gaining traction in the industry, and in his frustration, he changed his entire look and reinvented himself through an image change. He then placed an ad in the newspaper as he was looking for a band to work with, leading Tommy Lee and Nikki Six to contact him. This band would become the Motley Crue.
The band was formed in 1981 along with lead singer Vince Neil and has since enjoyed much popularity with huge album sales success.
The success of Motley Crue
Motley Crue took its name from an expression of one of their encounters in everyday life, as they were described as a motley-looking crew. The group has released numerous successful albums, starting with hard rock albums such as “Too Fast for Love” and “Shout at the Devil”. In the mid-1980s, the band began recording glam metal and became known for their extensive live performances. They have charted numerous albums during their run, including their only number one album “Dr. Feeling Good”.
However, many of their albums are certified platinum as they are said to have sold over 100 million albums worldwide.
During the 1990s, the band went through several changes, with temporary lead singer John Corabi as well as several drummers filling in during Tommy Lee’s absence in the early 2000s. The group eventually reunited as a whole and continued to release music with the last being “Saints of Los Angeles”. The group had a last concert in 2015, but a few years later they decided to reunite. They worked on a new Netflix biopic movie “The Dirt” and released four new songs as part of the soundtrack. The soundtrack turned out to be very successful and their biopic also received a lot of attention.
Other Efforts – Mick Mars
Aside from Motley Crue, Mars is known for contributing to other popular bands, including Evanescence, Papa Roach, Hinder, and Escape the Fate. He also collaborated with Black Smoke Trigger for the song “The Way I’m Wired”, which was released in 2019. Throughout his career, Mick was known to use guitars that were current fads such as a BC Rich, Gibson Les Paul, Superstraten, and the Kramer. His guitars of choice are Fender Stratocasters, often 1960s models he feels most comfortable with, a very bespoke guitar to suit his style.
Mick is known to suffer from ankylosing spondylitis, a form of arthritis that affects his pelvis and spine. He was diagnosed with the disease when he was 17 years old and has suffered from chronic pain for most of his life. The disease has affected his ability to move, even requiring hip replacement surgery in 2004. He admitted that his lower back had frozen solid in recent years and caused him scoliosis, causing him to shrink four inches.
Seraina was not Mick’s first wife, as he was first married to Sharon Deal in 1970, which was three years before his divorce.
His next marriage was to Emi Canyn in 1990, who was heavily involved with the Motley Crue at the time. The marriage also lasted three years, and Mick later went public about how his ex-wife cheated on him. He met Seraina at a concert in 2007 and the two began dating soon after, which attracted a lot of media attention due to their 33-year age difference. She publicly stated that she was in love with him, which brought them even more attention. They stayed together for six years until they decided to get married in 2013, but the couple rarely appear together in public. They live in Nashville, Tenn.
