Early life and education
Molly Qerim Rose was born on March 31, 1984 in New Haven, Connecticut, USA to parents of Albanian and Italian descent. She spent most of her childhood years in suburban Cheshire, Connecticut, and it is believed that she attended high school there as well, as she has not revealed much information about her early years.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communications from the University of Connecticut, with a minor in business administration. A few years later, she received her master’s degree from Quinnipiac University in the field of broadcast journalism.
Qerim’s journalism career began in 2006 when she joined ESPN. In 2008, she was the interactive host of their ‘College Football Live’ and the pioneering new reporter on ESPN2’s ‘Fantasy Football Now’, where her contribution was recognized with an Emmy. He is the son of the famous Jimmy Walker, a former #1 basketball pick who played alongside another big name, Jerry West. When Jalen retired from sports, he moved into journalism and reporting, and was hired by ESPN as a co-host of their sports talk show “NBA Countdown”. In 2019, Qerim was discredited after her colleague and father of NBA star Lonzo Ball, LaVar Ball, inappropriate comment to her during an episode of “First Take”. After her transition, Ball reportedly told Qerim, “You can always switch with me,” a comment that was dismissed by Qerim herself. This incident caused ESPN to distance themselves from Bell, but that decision led many to accuse Qerim of being oversensitive and vengeful. Many even speculated that Qerim had banned Ball himself, some even going so far as to point out that everything had a racial angle, noting that Qerim had a black man fired by ESPN – an accusation she has to this day of today completely denies, especially since she herself is married to a black man.
Qerim announced her ongoing battle with endometriosis – a problem with her reproductive system – in April 2018.
