Who is Haechan?
Born on June 6, 2000 in Seoul, South Korea, Lee Dong-hyuck is a singer and dancer, best known as a member of the South Korean boy band NCT. He is a member of the NCT 127 and NCT Dream subunits, being one of the main vocalists for both.
Haechan’s net worth
As of mid-2020, Haechan’s net worth is estimated to be over $1 million, mainly earned through success in the South Korean music scene, and he has toured the world performing – some of his songs with NCT have received international recognition.
Early life and career beginnings
At a young age, Haechan loved to dance and listen to music, often dancing and singing in his spare time, performing for his family. He also took piano lessons and eventually discovered popular K-pop music during his teenage years, especially enjoying SHINee’s songs. He is the eldest of three children, and when their mother noticed his interest, she encouraged him to pursue a potential career in entertainment.
He appeared at an audition held by SM entertainment, one of the largest entertainment companies in South Korea; he was successful and was signed to become one of their interns.
As a result, he had to move back to Seoul as the family had been living in Jeju for some time. For the next several years he was mostly under the radar, training to hopefully be selected for one of SM’s future projects. He appeared briefly as part of SM Rookies, which showcased many of the company’s future talents. At that time he was still called Lee Dong-hyuk, although he was later called Haechan by Lee Soo-man, meaning full sun.
Soo-man would also be responsible for recruiting Haechan for the next project – in 2016 it was announced that a new boy group would be formed by SM.
This group would become NCT (Neo Culture Technology) and it was the company’s first new group since Red Velvet’s debut two years earlier, and was their first boy band since Exo in 2012. The band’s concept was to create a unlimited number of members, who are part of different sub-units centered on different parts of the world. Things were finally settled in 2019 as 21 members have become more consistent and are of different age groups.
He was part of NCT’s second unit called NCT 127, named after Seoul’s longitude coordinates, with seven members of the group including Mark, Winwin, Yuta, Jaehyun, Taeyong, and Taeil.
After their introduction, they released a debut extended play (EP) NCT #127 and began performing regularly on television shows. He was also selected to be part of NCT’s third group NCT dreamalso consisting of Jaemin, Jisung, Chenie, Renjun, Jeno and Mark.
Good luck with NCT
With the introduction of new members, NCT 127 began releasing music in 2017, leading to the creation of “Limitless” along with their second EP of the same name. The EP was successful, reaching the top of the Billboard World Albums Chart and later being named as one of the top K-pop songs of the year.
He then turned his attention to NCT Dream, as they returned to performing on stage and releasing music, leading them to be selected for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, for which they created the theme song “Trigger the Fever”.
Later in 2017, NCT 127 released their third EP – “Cherry Bomb” – and the title track was named one of the best songs of the year. He then released NCT Dream’s first EP “We Young” which debuted through “M Countdown”. In 2018, it was announced that all members of NCT would then become part of a project called NCT 2018, which would consist of all members, and this led to the group’s first full-length album as a whole, called “NCT 2018 Empathy”. .
The project reached the top of the Billboard Emerging Artists chart, making them the first K-pop act to do so.
Haechan’s work with both Dream and 127 continued, releasing the EP “We Go Up” with Dream, while working on 127’s first full-length album “Regular-Irregular”. 127 added more members and NCT continued to expand with two new subgroups. In 2019, NCT 127 embarked on their first tour leading to the release of a fourth EP “We Are Superhuman”. Dream, on the other hand, worked on the EP “We Boom”, and also collaborated with HRVY for the single “Take Off”.

He then worked with NCT Dream for their fourth EP “Reload”, promoting its release with the other member. During this time, with some members nearing graduation, NCT took back the concept of members leaving and graduating, opting to stick with the current lineups. One of his recent projects is part of life online concerts set to entertain while most of the world is still in quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic, including South Korea.
Haechan is single – relationships are not very common in the Korean entertainment industry due to their busy schedules, but if he has a relationship in the future, it would probably be with a girl with good vocal ability. In his spare time, he enjoys playing football and dancing. He is also considered the mood maker and the cleanest of the group. He has a Christian faith and hopes to make the transition to solo singer and songwriter after NCT. He also likes video games and often plays”Overexpectedwith some of his bandmates.
