She was raised by her father, Marion St. Pierre MacDowell, who was a lumber manager, and mother Pauline ‘Paula’ Johnston, who worked as a music teacher. In 1964, her parents apparently divorced because her mother was an alcoholic, and her father later remarried Mary Frances Stone. Her mother died at the age of 53. Before becoming an actress, Andie pursued a career as a fashion model.
