The stable Android 13 release of Nothing Phone 1 is starting to arrive
It has a long list of improvements No release notes for the beta, such as a Nothing-ified weather app with the company’s signature dot-matrix UI styling. Other expected Android 13 updates are included, including a QR code scanner in the quick settings menu and privacy updates for the photo picker.
But the one upgrade that Phone 1 owners are probably most looking forward to is improved app loading speeds: nothing claims to make apps open up to 50 percent faster. That could be due to a shift from third-party to in-house developers — CEO Carl Pei told android authority that the company has put together its own technical team since the launch of the Phone 1. Switching from the externally developed codebase allowed them to make the system “smoother and more stable”.
If you’re a Phone 1 owner who’s eager to check out the new updates but wasn’t part of the beta program, it looks like you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Devices with the previous stable release don’t seem to be part of this first wave of updates – that’s also the case with my review unit.
