The number of Twitter views is starting to show up prominently
Tweet view counts are starting to show up for some Twitter users — at least for their own tweets. on 1 Dec. Musk promised the feature would be coming to “all tweets, just like view counts are displayed for all videos,” an announcement he made repeated itself a week later adding that it was coming “in a few weeks”.
One Forget employee starts seeing a counter when he clicks on his messages. While one Couple of other Twitter users have reported if I get the feature too, it doesn’t seem to be available to everyone yet (for example, at the time of writing, I don’t currently see view counts for tweets other than videos). My co-worker also says that he currently can’t see view counts of tweets from other users.
In its current state, the function does not return any new information. You’ve been able to do that for a long time enable analytics for your account, and see how many “impressions” your tweets have received. However, this requires an analysis button to be clicked; the view counter puts it right in your face.
It’s unclear if Musk intended users to see how many views other people’s tweets are getting. His comment that the feature is “just like videos” whose view counts are public to other users makes it seem like you should be able to see how many views other people’s tweets got. We’d ask Twitter for clarification, but it no longer has a communications department. Musk hasn’t tweeted about the feature recently.
