Ryan Edwards, the Teen Mom star, was arrested on Feb. 10 on charges of violating a protective order issued when he was discovered cheating on his wife, Mackenzie Standifer. Police discovered cocaine in Edwards’ hands when they searched him.
The Hamilton County Sheriff had asked him to leave the house near Harrison Bay State Park where he lived before his arrest. On the same day, he posted an NSFW photo accusing Standifer of cheating on him. The post included a picture of Standifer wearing a leather jacket showing her naked flesh. The caption read:
“If you’ve never seen a spineless slut, this is it. They steal your money and sleep with anyone who looks at them. However, they must have a wife. What a farce. It’s terribly sad.”
The term NSFW stands for “not safe for work.” It is usually used when someone uploads something that is not suitable for public consumption, such as nude photos.
Standifer filed a complaint alleging that Ryan Edwards also communicated with her father Bob, which was not authorized for Ryan. Following his arrest, the sheriff’s office said in a news report that Edwards violated the Order of Protection by contacting Mackenzie’s father and threatening to remove his belongings from Standifer’s home. The statement went on to say:
“While investigating the violation of the Order of Protection, HCSO investigators found that Ryan had an active harassment warrant issued by the Chattanooga Police Department. Mackenzie was named as the victim in that incident. The order was issued on February 8, 2023.”
The relationship between Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Standifer has its ups and downs.
Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Standifer began dating in 2016 and got married in 2017. They eventually had four children. However, his drug problems began to create a schism between them. Ryan accused his wife of cheating in an Instagram post with the couple’s photo. In the comment box he wrote:
“Remove your wife from here.” I am not proud to be married to someone who often goes to bars and returns home with others. [sic] guys… Tomorrow can’t come soon enough. Do you have any idea what happens when you lie to dogs? Look who I’m talking to. And then blaming everything on my addiction – divorce is the right thing to do.
Edwards told The US Sun that he was wrong about his wife and that he didn’t want to be separated from her. In 2018, a source for Us stated that Mackenzie didn’t seem concerned about Ryan’s addiction issues. The source said at the time that she wanted to focus on the baby and hoped it would help her husband get clean. According to the source, Edwards refuted his accusations of addiction to Mackenzie, and the latter believed him.
Investigating Ryan Edwards’ legal concerns
Ryan Edwards has long struggled with drug addiction and has been arrested several times. His legal troubles began with his 2017 arrest on charges of heroin possession. He was then dozed off during the 2017 Teen Mom finale.
Despite being detained, he broke his probation in 2018 and was released on $5,000 bail. His ex-girlfriend Maci Bookout and her husband Taylor McKinney sought a restraining order against Edwards, which was granted. He again violated his probation and spent a week in jail. Edwards was sentenced to six months’ probation and random drug testing during that time. He entered treatment in 2018 and was released after 90 days. Ryan was arrested in 2019 on charges of robbery and heroin possession, the latter stemming from an outstanding warrant.
