The latest chapter of the Dragon Ball Super anime franchise will be released this summer. Gohan and Piccolo reunite to fight the sinister plans of the latest edition of the Red Ribbon Army.

With only a few weeks left until the film hits Japanese cinemas, the Shonen movie is releasing new marketing material to get fans excited. This provides us with another glimpse of not only the aforementioned protagonists, but Gotenks and the other supporting characters who will be making their comeback here.

New Dragon Ball Poster

DBS Chronicles, a Twitter user, has delivered the new Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero poster. This poster seems to represent the core cast of the next movie. The film was delayed from April to June this year, in part due to a ransomware incident targeting Toei Animation

In addition, Twitter user DBS hype a very fresh take on Gotenks. This is the fusion that is formed when Goten and Trunks successfully or unsuccessfully perform the fusion dance:

Released Gotenks design

We got a lot of information about the Gohan and Piccolo centered movie. There are still many details yet to be revealed.

For example, we have yet to see the teenage Gotenks in animation. This is despite the fact that there are several photos confirming that Goten and Trunks are not only doing the fusion dance, but that they are doing it clumsily, resulting in a balloon-sized molten creature.

Since this Gotenks version is unlikely to beat Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, the two new androids created by Dr. Hedo of the Red Ribbon Army, will be intrigued to see what this merged fighter has in store.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Trailer & More

Toei Animation originally put Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero on indefinite hold after it was released in Japan in April (and in North America later this summer).

After the ransomware incident, the launch date has been pushed back to June. The entire Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero trailer shows all the different types of battles in action. In particular, it gives a glimpse into the franchise’s new CGI animation approach. The latest trailer is available below:

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is described as such by Toei Animation:

“Dragon Ball Super: Broly” was a mega hit with worldwide box office sales of 13.5 billion yen. 4 years later, in 2022, there is finally a new movie in the Dragon Ball Super series with an even bigger ‘awakening’! The Red Ribbon Army, an evil organization once destroyed by Goku in the past, has been succeeded by a group of humans who created the new and most powerful Androids ever, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2.

Here’s the part of the story fans could gather from the latest teaser trailer, but the juicy tease follows:

“They call themselves ‘superheroes’ and start attacking Piccolo, Gohan and others… What is the real purpose of the ‘new Red Ribbon Army’? With danger looming all over the world, now is the time to wake up! Wake up, superhero!!”

Toei Animation

One of the most popular theories about Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is that Cell will be revived in the movie. This is due to his ties to the Red Ribbon Army. Also, a mysterious large capsule can be seen in the trailers, which may contain the Dragon Ball Z villain.
