Sponsored places for 10 Gold Coast startups going to London Tech Week are up for grabs

The City of Gold Coast has partners with Tribe Global Ventures to support 10 Gold Coast-based tech startups to attend London Tech Week in June.

Registration closes April 9 at midnight. You can register here.

Tribe Global Ventures is a Brisbane and Adelaide-based VC firm that invests in B2B technology companies in Australia and New Zealand, helping them scale to the UK and US through a syndicate model, focusing on seed rounds to Series A.

An information meeting will be held at the Gold Coast on March 29 at 4 p.m. There is one for those who want to be there virtually online information session on April 4, 12 noon.

During the 7-day intensive mission, selected startups will participate in private and public events, meetings, workshops and networking functions with the aim of building international connections and meeting with potential clients, customers, suppliers and distribution partners.

They will also gain insight into the latest technology innovations and global market trends, and receive guidance on the practical steps required to expand into the UK, from legal to banking, visa, HR and finance.

Tribe global CEO Aaron Birkby thinks too many ANZ founders default directly to the US as their first international market without understanding other market opportunities.

“For many, the UK is a much smarter choice, with common law commonality resulting in a 29% cheaper runway, loads of government aid and incentives, the second highest level of investment financing globally, and a high density of corporate and corporate clients gathered located in central London,” he said.

“Since 2016 I have been leading annual missions to London Tech Week for founders and investors and this is without a doubt the best way to understand and connect with the UK and EU markets.”
