At AnimeJapan 2022, Aniplex released a new trailer for the second season of Shadows House, which will premiere in July this year. The series follows Emily, a girl who is brought to the mysterious shadow house to act as the face for Kate, a girl shrouded in soot who is one of the nobles of the house. Together they work to unravel the secrets of the Shadows House to discover what really goes on behind the scenes.

This second season comes about a year and some change after the success of the first season.

A Shadows House season 2 trailer for the series was also released during the event, which you can check out below.

What is the plot of season 2?

Strangely enough, no details about the Shadows House season 2 plot have been made public yet on the website alongside the recurring cast for the series and the ominous line, “This house still holds a lot of secrets,” suggesting that not everything about the house has been discovered yet. This is a bit strange considering the end of the first season.

What will happen in Season 2 of Shadows House, given…

Warning: The ending of the first season of Shadows House is discussed below. If you haven’t watched the first season yet, don’t read any further!

As discussed in a previous article, after the first nine episodes of Shadows House, the show became quite anime-original and incorporated elements of later in the manga, then incorporated them into the overall structure of the show, leading to a few important deviations from the source material. The most notable example of this is the fairly early disclosure of Grandfather’s plan for the house and the Shadows’ true identity as morphlings.

This leads to a pretty important question: will the studio behind the adaptation choose to go back and go back to covering manga material with a bit of patchwork made between the two seasons to preserve the plot, or will they go for it? choose to go full anime original in the vein of Fullmetal Alchemist back in the day?

From the teaser trailer, it’s clear that the arc they cover does contain some manga material, suggesting the first path. It will be interesting to see if they continue with the minor differences, or if they go straight back to the manga material 1:1.
