Sean Edward Hartman is an American actor, artist, graphic designer, and writer, among others, but he is probably best known to the world as the son of the late actor and voiceover artist Phil Hartman. He has a younger sister, Birgen, who was born three years after him. Sean had a troubled childhood; her parents’ marriage began to dissolve and ended in tragedy. Brynn, who had a history of alcohol and substance abuse, shot Phil in the head, chest and throat after an argument, killing him at the scene. After this, Brynn took a car to her friend Ron Douglas’ house and told him what she was doing. At first he didn’t believe her and drove back to Phil’s house. He called 911 upon arrival and the police took Phil’s children and Douglas away from the crime scene, while Brynn had locked himself in the bedroom and committed suicide.
After their parents died, Sean and his sister lived with Brynn’s sister Katharine Omdahl and her husband Mike Wright. According to reports, Phil had agreed that his children would receive money every month until they are 25 years old. His net worth at the time of death was approximately $1.25 million.

Philip Edward Hartman was born on September 24, 1948 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, to Rupert Loebig Hartman and his wife Doris Marguerite. The fourth of eight children, he was raised Catholic and when he turned 10 years old, the family moved to the US. They first found a home in Lewiston, Maine, then Meriden, Connecticut, but eventually moved to the West Coast.
He attended Westchester High School, and there he found a deep connection to comedy, acting like a class clown along the way. After graduating from college, he enrolled at Santa Monica City College, but dropped out and became a roadie for a rock band. Nevertheless, three years later he enrolled at California State University, Northridge, to study graphic arts. Over time, he built up his own graphics business and in the 1970s created over 40 album covers for various bands, including America and Poco, among others. He also created the logo for Crosby, Stills & Nash.
His show business career began in the mid-1970s when he joined the improvisational comedy troupe The Groundlings. As time went on, he became more encouraged to perform on stage with the group, eventually making his acting debut in the movie “Stunt Rock” in 1978. He continued with minor roles in the 1970s, while in the 80s his career began to improve. Before his death in 1998, Phil had worked on more than 90 films, TV shows and animated series as both an actor and a voice actor.
Some of his most popular works were the voices of Henry Mitchell/George Wilson/Ruff in the animated series ‘Dennis the Menace’, then for his work on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 1985 and ’96, in which his best impersonation was as President Bill Clinton. Before his marriage to Brynn, Phil had already been through two failed marriages.
His first marriage was to Gretchen Lewis, which only lasted from 1970 to 1972. His second marriage was to Lisa Strain, a real estate agent – the two married in 1982, but this only lasted three years before the couple divorced.
In 1986, he met his future third wife, Bryn Omdahl (Vicki Jo Omdahl), on a blind date; the two became a couple and married in November 1987. Sadly, their marriage ended tragically, with both dead. Brynn had problems with alcohol and drugs and also suffered from anxiety, which only added to the tragic event.
