A new visual teases the anime adaptation of the Sacrifice princess and the king of beasts, a romantic fantasy story based on Yuu Tomofuji’s manga of the same name. Also known as Niehime to Kemono no Ou in Japanese, this series will be a familiar one to fans of Western fairy tales – with story elements from Beauty and the Beast.
It is unknown which voice cast will compete against characters such as the strong-willed Princess Saliphie and the cold beast king. Fans can only make their predictions for now. Likewise, the animation studio and director of the series have yet to be announced. Since the show is expected to be released next year, we’ll have to stay tuned for more!
Those curious about the upcoming anime can always check out the manga in the meantime. With its fairytale and romantic themes, Niehime to Kemono no Ou will likely be a good fit for fans of 2017’s The Ancient Magus’ Bride. What is the plot of the Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts?
In a distant land there is a society where animals roam freely. Under the rule of a fearsome king, the beasts leave humanity alone, asking only for a sacrifice. Saliphie is such a sacrifice. And although she is the 99th girl to give her life to appease the wrath of the king, she is not without objection.
Saliphie, or Sali, chastises the beast, insisting that his cruelty will lead to a solitary life. He urges her to huddle in front of him, but the girl is at peace with the idea of death. With no family or life to return to, she accepts that even if she ran, there would be no real escape. This leaves the king troubled.
There is still time left until the day of sacrifice. And while Sali’s ability to smile under such unnerving circumstances is unimaginable to the Beast King, he insists she stays by his side. It is his wish that she fear him as the others have before her, but during the time the two spend together, it may be the beast that will be forced to change his mindset.
