from Sony Return is the latest PlayStation exclusive to make the jump to PC, but comes with a hefty RAM recommendation (through WccfTech). While you need at least 16 GB of RAM in your installation to get it into a playable state, Return‘s Steam list recommends at least 32 GB to get the most out of gameplay and graphics.
Return is a third-person roguelike shooter with undeniably stunning visuals, but it’s still not clear why the game needs so much RAM to reach its full potential. The rest of the system requirements seem pretty normal for a game ported from a next-generation console, as you’ll need at least an Intel i7-8700 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X CPU, along with an Nvidia RTX 2070 Super or AMD RX 6700 XT GPU or better to meet recommended specifications.

However, a leaked video of the game (which has since been removed) may shed some light on the high RAM recommendation. As noted by PC gamerthe video suggests that Return could include support for both Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR upscaling technology, ray tracing for both shadows and reflections, as well as unlocked frame rates.
Mikael Haveri, the brand director at Return developer Housemarque, seems to hint at some of these benefits in the announcement of the Sony blog post the PC port. “For our PC version, there will be a range of PC-specific tweaks and upgrades to ensure the experience is as fluid as possible,” Haveri explained, adding that more details on this will be available “later”.
In addition to ReturnSony also announced that it is bringing the PS5 exclusively The last of us part 1 remake to PC next year. Sony hasn’t revealed the required specs for this game yet, so we’ll have to wait and see if the company raises the RAM recommendation in this area as well.
