A new illustration has been released to promote a limited-time event in the mobile puzzle game Cardcaptor Sakura: Repaint Record. The event will take place between April 15 and April 28, 2022.
For those of you who may have missed this intriguing news, Sakura Kinomoto, our favorite card-capturing magical girl, has her own smartphone puzzle game. The game of Bushiroad features an original story set in the Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Cards story arc universe.
Sakura is a character and heroine of CLAMP’s manga and anime series Cardcaptor Sakura. At the start of the series during the Clow Card Arc and Sakura Card Arc, she is a ten-year-old girl who lives in Tomoeda, Japan and attends Tomoeda Elementary School. She is a freshman attending Tomoeda Junior High School during the Clear Card Arc.
Sakura’s best friend, Tomoyo Daidouji, is a fashion designer in her spare time, and upon discovering Sakura’s “superhero identity” as Cardcaptor, she decides Sakura needs special hero costumes to fight in. Tomoyo also accompanies Sakura during her shooting and films the events .

Now, Tomoyo Sakura can not only dress up in new magical girl costumes, but players can also unlock new beautiful outfits that Sakura can wear by completing the puzzles. Fans even hope so Lake costume designs will be released during the special event. With CLAMP’s obvious love for fashion, I wouldn’t be surprised.
Sakura wears a different costume during each card capture battle, meaning she has over 40 costumes!
The game is free to play with in-game purchases such as upgrades and time savers such as time/gem destroyers. Get ready to yell, “Money Gouge Card, let go!” The gameplay of Repaint Record is similar to puzzle games like Bejeweled or Candy Crush Saga – where players match colors together. The game developer, Bushiroad, was clearly inspired by the success of Candy Crush Saga as a mobile puzzle game that millions of players in the past 8 years. According to the Entertainment Software Association, 60% of video games among adult gamers play on mobile games.
