Game Freak is best known as the studio behind the mainline pokemon games, including recent releases such as Sword / Shield, Legends: ArceusAnd Scarlet / Violet. But the developer is expanding its repertoire for a new release that is currently codenamed Project Bloom. There aren’t many details about the game, but it’s described as “a brand new IP action adventure”. The studio released a single piece of concept art, which you can see above.
To release the game, the studio has teamed up with Private Division, a publishing label under the Take-Two umbrella, which has previously published titles ranging from The outside worlds Unpleasant OlliOlli World. “We are ready to help Game Freak unleash their potential and we are honored to be the first Western publisher to partner with this exceptionally talented and proven team to bring a bold new IP to market,” said Michael Worosz, head of the Private Division, in a position.
It also sounds like Project Bloom is still relatively early in development, with a planned launch “during Take-Two’s fiscal year 2026.” No platforms have been announced.
And while Game Freak is closely associated with pokemonthe studio has released several titles outside of the series, including Tembo the tough elephant (published by Sega) and the cult classic Pocket Card Jockey, which recently got a remake on Apple Arcade. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to create a new IP that is bold and tonally different from our previous work,” said Game Freak director Kota Furushima of Project Bloom.
