Early life and family
Patrick Simondac was born on November 11, 1989 in Orlando, Florida, USA. He is of Filipino and American nationality and his zodiac sign is Scorpio. Both of Patrick’s parents are Filipinos, who emigrated to the US with their three children; they raised their sons in the Catholic religion. Patrick’s mother is an experienced nurse and he initially wanted to inherit her profession, but eventually changed his mind. Patrick’s father is an entrepreneur and mature golfer. Both parents support Patrick on social media and accept their unique child as he is.
Patrick has two younger brothers, Paul and Peter, who can be seen in his video titled “BROTHERS DO MY MAKEUP”. Peter recently graduated from the University of Central Florida with a BA in accounting; he also enjoys musical theater and acting. Paul also attends the University of Central Florida and is involved in Color Guard and Drum Corps. Patrick has very warm and supportive relationships with his brothers, and they help him a lot in filming the videos for his YouTube channel: “Yes, PatrickStarrr is famous or whatever, but to me he’s still my brother, he still worries about me, he still gives me advice and I look up to him as a role model,” Paul shared on his Instagram account.
Educational background
Patrick attended Timber Creek High School in Orlando and took his matriculation exam in 2007. In high school, he took swimming lessons, choir, drama, tennis, and golf.
He was also in the cast of his school production of “Cats”, which inspired him to wear makeup in his everyday life as he felt he didn’t want to wipe it all off completely. It was also the time when he did everyone’s hair in drama classes, and many loved the way he did it. Little is known about the university from which Patrick graduated, but it is known that he was seriously interested in photography during his school days – he never took photography courses, so he is completely self-taught.
Career
Work in the makeup stores
In 2011 Patrick applied for his first job at one of the local department stores because he wanted to work in the MAC make-up shop. Patrick felt very inspired to get the job as he was desperate to be accepted in the makeup industry and even tried wearing some powder, mascara and brow powder.
The makeup store where he worked had so-called “theme days,” when all consultants wore expressive makeup to promote new products and makeup trends. Some of Patrick’s colleagues chose to do an Audrey Hepburn or Cleopatra makeup, but since Patrick was a boy, he had no idea which celebrity to choose. One of his fellow consultants urged him to do Jeffree Star’s makeup, but Patrick didn’t even know who he was. When Patrick finally figured out all the details of Jeffrey’s candy-like look, he practiced all night for the “theme day” and came to work with the Jeffree Star makeup, his co-workers asked him to wipe it off. Patrick was deeply embarrassed – he couldn’t even hide in the back room to clean up, so he had to wipe off his makeup in front of the customers and his colleagues.
When he remembers that day he gets emotional, because it hurt him a lot. In 2012, he changed jobs, but couldn’t stop experimenting with his own makeup and adding new products to his look. Some of his managers asked him to ‘calm down’ and wear less make-up, to be ‘more of a boy’. However, in 2014, one of the customers notices the lipstick Patrick was wearing that day and asked his manager to give her the same product. It was the moment when Patrick felt very inspired and understood that he was doing a good job.
In 2013, Patrick met Viva Glam Kay, the popular Instagram makeup artist and influencer. They took the same $20 makeup class in Orlando, and Patrick shared that he wanted to do something big in the coming year 2014; Viva Glam Kay told him, “Patrick, have courage and be kind!”

From that moment on Patrick was unstoppable. On February 22, 2014, he had his first private makeup class, initially seating 20, but eventually expanding to 40 seats sold out because so many people wanted to see Patrick and Viva Glam Kay.
In April 2014, Patrick and Viva Glam Kay moved to New York and opened their makeup booth right next to the Morphe Brushes booth, where Patrick saw Jeffree Star. Jeffree took a photo with Patrick and added the shot to his Instagram account, “When stars collide,” and it came “full circle” for Patrick, who Jeffree now wanted to be photographed with.
In June 2014, Patrick moved to Los Angeles, California. He went to the Fame Expo event, where he met his future colleague and friend, Manny Mua, a popular YouTuber and Instagrammer, with whom Patrick later had many successful collaborations.
He also had a project with Anastasia Beverly Hills and Norvino. It was the time when Patrick’s Instagram and YouTube channel started to grow, even though he still feared he would hang around the mall forever, beating up the customers. The number of his subscribers started growing and as of 2020, he has over 4.7 million subscribers on Instagram while his YouTube channel is followed by over 4.4 million.
Friendship with Talia Joy (Castellano) and further success
Patrick considers Talia Joy, the late famous YouTuber, as one of his biggest inspirations. He befriended her through her friend Leah, who worked at the same location as Patrick, and they met several times, while Patrick did some makeup for Talia. When she passed away in 2013 and lost the battle with neuroblastoma and leukemia, Patrick’s video on YouTube was one of the last she liked.

He has also created similar makeup tutorials for Maddie Ziegler, Rihanna and Katy Perry, which attracted millions of views.
Patrick has commercial contracts with brands such as NYX, Sigma, Sephora and Benefit. He also owns his own nail polish brand “Formula X”. In 2017, Patrick won the Beauty Streamy Award for his work in the contest. As a guest star, he appeared in TV shows like “America’s Next Top Model”, “Daily Pop”, etc.
Private life. Is he really married to Manny Mua Gutierrez?
There was a lot of speculation about Patrick’s sexuality until he tweeted on August 3, 2017 that he was a proud gay person and supported the entire LGBT community. He was rumored to have had an affair and even married another YouTuber, Manny “Manny Mua” Gutierrez, as they posted their wedding photos on their social media accounts. However, it all turned out to be a promotion for their new bridal makeup and hairstyle tutorials on YouTube. In his video posted by Patrick on September 25, 2016, he stated that he was a man, not even transgender, who just loved wearing makeup.
