The Overlord Season 4 release date is coming up in the summer of 2022 and fans are loving it. It’s been a few years since the anime adaptation of Kugane Maruyama and So-bin’s original light book series has wrapped up its third season.

The anticipation is only growing and the franchise will return in a big way. Not only is the TV anime returning for a fourth season, but a new Overlord movie is also on the way.

Ahead of the return, the first details for the new Overlord Season 4 OP (opening) and ED (ending) theme song music have been revealed.

Overlord Season 4 Opening and Ending Theme

The official Twitter account for the franchise stated that: OxT will return to create the Overlord Season 4 ON “HOLLOW HUNGER” after performing the openings of the previous two seasons (and the final episode of the third season).

Mayu Maeshima (who previously performed as part of the MYTH&ROID group in previous seasons) will provide the Overlord Season 4 ED theme, titled “No Man’s Dawn”.

Overlord Season 4: What We Know So Far

In 2010, Kugane Maruyama launched the Overlord light novel series online. In 2012, Kadokawa’s Enterbrain label published the series in print with drawings by so-bin. On November 26, 2014, Satoshi Shio began serializing the manga adaptation, featuring art by Hugin Miyama, in Kadokawa Shoten’s manga magazine, Comp Ace.

While we know Overlord Season 4 will be released in July 2022, no specific release date or foreign licensing deals have been announced at the time of writing. Naoyuki Itou will also continue to direct Studio Madhouse. Yukie Sagawara will remain the series writer and Satoshi Tasaki will return to create character designs for the upcoming season.

Satoshi Hino as Ains Ooal Gown, Sumire Uesaka as Shalltear, Yumi Hara as Albedo, Emiri Kato as Aura, Masayuki Katou as Demiurge, Yumi Uchiyama as Mare, and Kenta Miyake as Cocytus have all been confirmed as returning cast members.

The new Overlord movie also has no release date. It has been announced that it will adapt part 12 of the original light novels. Presumably that means Overlord Season 4 will cover parts 10 and 11, though there’s still a chance to catch up. Crunchyroll now has the first three seasons of Overlord available to stream.

We expect season four to follow in the footsteps of the previous three seasons. Each was adapted from three volumes of the light novel series. When Overlord 4 premieres, it’s possible that both parts of the “The Paladin of the Holy Kingdom” storyline will be adjusted.

This suggests that the fourth season could contain more than thirteen episodes. But as we have no official confirmation, we can only speculate. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.

What are your thoughts? Are you looking forward to the launch of Overlord Season 4? What did you think of the themes of the first three seasons? Let us know what you think in the comments!
