One of One Piece’s Netflix directors has released an update on the production of the upcoming One Piece live-action TV show.

One Piece has established itself as one of the most successful series in the anime industry. It will soon be released on Netflix in a brand new medium. If you didn’t really know, the creator Eiichiro Oda is collaborating with Netflix on a live-action adaptation of One Piece.

So far 10 episodes have been made. It will be developed by Tomorrow Studios and publisher Shueishathe same companies that brought you the Netflix version of Cowboy Bebop.

Filming on the project has already started and one of the directors has now provided an important update on the series.

The Message from Netflix’s One Piece Director

Marc Jobst caught the attention of One Piece fans Twitter when he tweeted a unique tribute to the anime series. The episode director and executive producer have apparently finished their work on the Netflix production of One Piece. They commemorated their labor with a series of photos taken on location in South Africa. Jobst was all about the Straw Hat team.

The director wrote:

“Goodbye South Africa. Land of sunshine, hard work, little creatures that visit every day, and mountains that take my breath away every day. Thank you to the incredibly talented crew who brought this show to life. Now to the next stage… the cut,”\

Marc Jobst

Jobst is happy with One Piece, as you can see above. Apparently his work is far from over. The director still has to bring the episodes he oversaw to the editing room. Jobst now curates two episodes of One Piece.

This is according to Netflix, although that number could change. The show’s other directors have been kept secret, forcing Jobst to answer all of the viewers’ questions. Netizens are growing impatient to see the Straw Hat team in action as One Piece continues to film. If some final edits are approved soon, Netflix may have something to show off at its big presentation in June.

One Piece live-action: what we know so far

More than 1,000 chapters and 95 volumes of One Piece have been released. This has been since its debut in an issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on July 22, 1997, and the manga is currently active. One Piece is also one of the most popular manga series of all time. One Piece has sold out titles like Naruto and Dragon Ball.

The live-action One Piece has yet to get an official release date from Netflix. However, the digital platform posted a statement from the series author Eiichiro Oda on his official Twitter account

The update suggests efforts are underway to get a Netflix One Piece release date: “It’s going to take a little longer to get this show done, but we’ll continue to do our best to deliver a show that we love. I’m sure it will work.” be enjoyed by everyone around the world! Look forward to more updates in the future!”

One Piece’s Netflix Production Teasers

Production Weekly stated in January 2022 that the live-action One Piece will go into production this spring/summer. The location is planned in South Africa. Showrunner Steven Maeda teased the start of production on the show towards the end of that month with a snapshot:

On February 1, 2022, Netflix also announced that the live-action One Piece series had started shooting.

A pirate ship was seen on the set of the series in January 2022, and it appears to be “Miss Love Duck”. This is a warship with a giant duck head on top and is piloted by the villain Alvida.

She is the first major opponent that Luffy encounters in the manga series, and it looks like she will be introduced in the anime.
