Omid Abtahi is an Iranian-born American actor, who is probably best known for playing the recurring character Salim on Starz’s fantasy drama series ‘American Gods’. He is best known for his roles as Salim in Showtime’s Sleeper Cell and as Homes in the latest installment of the Hunger Games film series, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. Abtahi was born in Tehran, Iran. At the age of 5, he and his family moved to Paris and later they moved to the United States, eventually moving to Irvine, Orange County, California when he was 10. Abtahi graduated from University High School in Irvine and attended California State University. Fullerton. He started studying advertising, took a second major in theater and graduated in 2002. . He spent his early childhood in Paris, France, where his family moved when he was five, before moving to the United States at the age of 10 and settling in Irvine, California. Abtahi enrolled at California State University, Fullerton, where he graduated in 2002 and received his bachelor’s degree in advertising with theater as a second major.

After graduation, Abtahi began his acting career in theater, where he honed his acting skills through a variety of plays and theatrical productions, including Berkeley Repertory’s “Fraulein Else,” Kennedy Center’s “Your Everyday Typical Romantic Comedy,” and the Sundance Theater Lab’s “Adoration of the Old Woman”, just to name a few.

Omids acting debut in front of the camera took place in 2005 when he appeared in an episode of the TV series “JAG”, which was followed by an appearance in an episode of the series “Judging Army”.
