Noah Ringer is a young American actor as well as a martial artist, who is probably best known for starring in the lead role of the Avatar Aang in the 2010 fantasy action movie “The Last Airbender”. Martial arts
At the age of 10, Noah’s mother took him to taekwondo classes. Growing up outside the usual school atmosphere and being a rather shy kid, he reluctantly agreed at first before he started to like the world of martial arts.
He is a practitioner at the American Taekwondo Association (ATA) Martial Arts school in Carrollton, Texas. A promising student, he made his professional taekwondo debut at the World Championship Tournament in Arkansas, placing first in every category he competed in. Enchanted by the extreme routines of the more experienced participants, he began practicing Extreme Martial Arts (XMA), and devised his own routine choreographies. At the age of only 12, young Noah became the holder of the first degree black belt.

By that time, he had already participated in more than 25 tournaments, earning a total of 100 medals, 80 of which were gold.
In February 2008, Ringer was honored by the State of Texas with the ATA’s Competitor of the Year Award, going on to win five Texas State Champion’s titles in categories such as Sparring, Traditional Weapons, Traditional Forms and X-Treme. Acting career
In July 2008, the ATA informed Noah’s instructor Master Eric Pechacek that they were looking for students interested in auditioning for a potential role in the fantasy film “The Last Airbender”. Supported by Noah’s parents, Pechacek encouraged him to give it a try, so Noah filmed a demo video in his homemade Avatar costume, which he had previously used for Halloween; he demonstrated his martial arts skills using a bō staff and performed an XMA Jahng Bong routine.
In addition, he recited a few lines of text, and a month later Ring signal was invited to Philadelphia, where he met the film director M. Night Shyamalan – he was subsequently cast to play the main character of Aang.
