The Nights With a Cat anime has been added to the Summer 2022 anime roster alongside Made In Abyss Season 2, RWBY: Ice Queendom and many others. Nights With a Cat (aka Yoru wa Neko to Issho) is based on Kyuru Z’s manga of the same name and depicts the everyday life of a cat and their human companions.

Studio PuYUKAI – the animation team behind the Isekai Quartet, a spin-off series that brings together characters like Tanya from Youjo Senki and Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord – will create the series. (The Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2 has been confirmed for production. The Overlord Season 4 release date and the Isekai Quartet movie release date are both 2022.)

Following the announcement, Yoru wa Neko to Issho’s Twitter has gained traction. With 10,000 subscribers already, the series is on its way to gaining a strong fan base.

In honor of the Nights With a Cat anime, the series’ official Twitter account is running a raffle campaign. Fans can follow the official account and retweet this post to enter to win signed artwork. Accounts must be public to win, and prizes will be sent to Japanese addresses only. The event period runs until May 22.

What is the plot of the Nights With a Cat story?

Like a comic strip from life, Nights With a Cat presents cute and recognizable everyday events between a cat and their human friend. Those who want a deep plot full of twists, character development and an ever-changing world probably won’t have much to get excited about. But if lighthearted fun and scenarios that every cat owner will find familiar sound enjoyable, Nights With a Cat is an anime to try.

A typical Nights With a Cat comic consists of a simple interaction: the human is busy connecting his computer while the cat is curious. Humorous hijinks follow; the cat and man have their own wishes and reactions. But in the end, they both enjoy each other’s company.

Given director Minoru Ashina’s previous work on Isekai Quartet – a TV short with a focus on quick, cute interactions – it’s possible Nights With a Cat will follow a similar format. Could we be surprised by the series with a strong narrative focus? It’s possible, but we’ll have to wait and see for more details.

Where can I read the Nights With a Cat manga?

Nights With a Cat originated as Zutto Neko Shoshinsha – a webcomic released on both Nekonavi and Twitter by Kyuru Z† The series was later picked up by publisher Kadokawa for a print edition. Japanese fans can pick up the first two parts — with a third on April 28 — from retailers like Amazon Japan. The manga is also available in eBook format on Book☆Walker.

English fans are in luck! The first two parts are available for pre-order — part one will be released on June 21, and part two will be released on September 20. Continue to Yen Press’s website to find the books from retailers like Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
