During AnimeJapan 2022, a new trailer for the Teasing Master Takagi-san movie was unveiled today after the Takagi-san panel, where the voice actors discussed the upcoming movie, played a few games and discussed their favorite moments from the series so far on the expos Green Stage a few hours ago.
The release date of the Teasing Master Takagi-san movie in Japanese cinemas is June 10, 2022. The trailer shows the premise of the movie: Takagi-san and Nishikata spend their summer vacation together, a summer that only happens once, a summer which they can never return to… because it’s the last summer they’ll ever have as high school students!

Is the Takagi-san movie a movie original?
Yes, the Takagi-san movie is a movie original work – the events of this were not covered in the manga or any other material! The film appears to be an entirely original work about a possible summer vacation and the adventures of Takagi and Nishikata throughout the journey. An interesting aspect of this is that the current canon of the Takagi-san manga does not extend that far.

This movie could potentially describe the events of how Takagi and Nishikata came together in the future, as seen in the (former) Teasing Master Takagi-san manga. It will be interesting to see what route the staff will take with the series, and whether the anime/movie adaptations will finally start to follow their own path!
When will the film be available internationally?
It’s a bit unclear when this movie will be available internationally, nor is there any clear precedent for previous Takagi-san movies like for Viz series and the like. Since the streaming rights to the series are currently owned by Crunchyroll, it’s safe to say that the film will be available there someday – most of the previous hit series movies are available there, such as those for My Hero and One Piece.
Unlike simulcast subs, the film should be available a few months after its premiere in Japan – we’ll be sure to update you on its status as more news becomes available!
