Noriyasu Agematsu, the principal composer and creator of the original concept for Symphogear and a key part of Elements Garden (a collective that produces most of the music for Scared Dream!, Nana Mizuki, Rosario Vampire, Uta no Prince-sama and more!) announced that the anime of his new multimedia project, Technoroid, will be broadcast in July this year. The series will also include anime, games and music in its multimedia efforts.

The anime is provided by Doga Kobo, best known for their work on YuruYuri and the upcoming Shikimori-san anime. The aforementioned game titled “Technoroid: Unison Heart” was released on January 31 this year to mild excitement.

LAM, a character designer best known for their work with ATLUS for Persona 5, Tokyo Chronus, and their contributions to Hakos Baelz’s designs of Hololive English, contributed to the character designs for the series.

You can watch the announcement trailer for the multimedia project below:

What is the plot of Technoroid?

Technoroid follows Cobalt, an Android whose owner is unknown. The show is set in a world where, while the environment has become toxic to humans, people have grown to get their entertainment from the newly built Entertainment Tower Babel, intended to bring hope and light to all humanity. Groups of androids compete for first place in Babel, with STAND-ALONE as the top dog. Cobalt has aspirations to create their own group and dethrone STAND-ALONE to bring a smile to the world.

Beyond that premise, the details of the show are unknown as of yet.

Who are the groups featured in the show?

Technoroid, just like BanG Dream! or Project Sekai, has several subunits that make music together.

While it’s not clear which groups will appear in Technoroid: Overmind other than those in the first trailer, the official website has confirmed that the groups KNoCC and STAND-ALONE will appear in the anime.

KNoCC seems to be the group made up of the main protagonists of the series, while STAND-ALONE are the ones at the top of Babel. From the plot summary above, Overmind will most likely follow the clashes and conflicts between the two, but it’s entirely possible that other groups like Mechanica Metallica, Blanki Note, or UMA. It will be interesting to see what groups they show on the!
