Sierra Skye is an American swimsuit model, as well as a social media celebrity whose ticket to fame is her bikini-clad body posts on Instagram.

Early life and family

Sierra Skye was born Sierra Egan on November 6, 1995, in Los Robles, Los Angeles, California, USA, to an Italian father and a Native American mother named Jamie. She has a sister, but not much other information is available about her family, although Sierra sometimes mentioned that family in her YouTube videos. She remembered going to Hawaii with her family when she was 13 years old, and she had a great time there, making Hawaii one of her favorite places to visit. Her zodiac sign is Scorpio and her birthstone is Topaz.

Education background

She graduated from high school in 2014 and was active in extracurricular activities as a cheerleader and dancer, being part of a competitive dance team. Her love for dancing started at the age of three, when she enrolled in a dance class. She was also into fitness early on and had been going to the gym since ninth grade – when her mother joined the girls’ gym, Total Woman, she did too.

Right out of high school, she enrolled in a four-year nursing degree at California State University Channel Islands in Ventura County, CA, wanting to work with children in a teaching position or in a hospital maternity ward.

She worked in the YMCA Child Care program all four years of high school, so helping kids was something she had always wanted to do. But a year and a half after her studies, she dropped out because she found it difficult and struggled with her study schedule, her relationship with her boyfriend and her work, which had just started.

Sierra switched to a two-year course and was able to earn an esthetician’s license when she decided she wanted to get Botox injections or laser treatments.

Her career as an Instagram star started in high school, when she posted her photos taken by her mother, sister or friend.

She said she only had a few thousand followers at the time. She may have deleted her first post, as well as some of her photos taken during that time, because the first photo on her verified Instagram account was posted on May 2, 2015, and was of a kitten; it only had 5,000 thousand likes. After meeting photographer Roman Palumbo, her Instagram stats improved. According to Sierra, it was Roman who helped her gain a huge following. Although the first photo posted to his Instagram account was only August 2015, a few months later than Sierra, he gained followers much faster than her and had about 100,000 at the time.

The second photo posted to her account was from January 10, 2016, one of her and Roman, followed by several more photos of them, and it was clear that they were already a couple.

They traveled first with her family, then just the two of them to Kauai, Hawaii and Costa Rica, taking pictures on the beach in swimsuits and posting them. Sierra said that Roman posted her pictures and tagged her on his account to introduce her to his followers, and that she would also post pictures of them together on her account.

In 2016, bikini brand Boutine Los Angeles noticed her and asked if she would be willing to model their swimsuits and do photo shoots with them. She was initially hesitant to accept because she never considered herself a model, mainly because she wasn’t tall and thin, but also self-conscious and nervous because she didn’t know how to pose.

It was her mom and boyfriend who encouraged her to accept — she had a two-hour photo shoot with the company, and they posted her photos on their site and tagged her — her following increased significantly after her exposure as a bikini model.

Sierra’s Instagram now has over 600 posts and attracted more than 4.2 million followers, so it’s been an effective platform for promoting herself and the brands she endorses. Most of her photos and videos were of her wearing swimsuits in different styles and designs, from different swimwear brands such as Fashion Nova, Gooseberry Intimates, and Pretty Little Thing. Her photo with the most likes (nearly 350,000) is of her in Plumeria swimsuits, taken in April 2018. The most video clips she’s posted have each been viewed over a million times – the most viewed (3.6 million) was uploaded in June of 2018 when she applied self-tanning body oil from Balibody brand on her skin.

Sierra and her boyfriend launched their own YouTube channel, “Roman & Sierra’s World,” in June 2015, but didn’t upload a video of their trip to the beach until March 2017, but it attracted more than 100,000 views. They said they would post “couple” type videos as well as “a day in the life of Sierra or Roman” type videos. However, they only posted about a dozen “couple-type” videos between 2017 and 2019; after that it was only Sierra on a handful of videos. Roman said he had been busy with school and work, while Sierra had a busy schedule working as a model, so they couldn’t make more videos during that time.

In February 2020, she was joined by her best friend, Brooke Platner, in her videos.

They lived on the same street when they were young, their families knew each other, and they’ve been friends since they were 12 or 13 years old when they were in sixth grade. Their YouTube channel has over 35,000 subscribers and over two million views. Of the 39 uploaded videos, 19 were with Brooke. The highest number of views, almost 400,000, was with Brooke, posted on April 2, 2020 in which Sierra tried on more than a dozen bikinis, and Brooke would guess which was the cheapest or most expensive.

Private life

Sierra is 24 years old and has been in a five-year relationship with Roman Palumbo; she had three ex-boyfriends before Roman. The couple bought a house in November 2018, which they posted on their YouTube channel on January 3, 2019 when they took a tour of the house.

• She has double-jointed arms because she can bend her elbows forward and it looks like her arms are broken.
• Sierra hits the gym six days a week for an hour of cardio, plus three hours a week with a personal trainer to stay in shape. She eats healthy, but when she wants to indulge in sweets and pizza, she just works extra hard at the gym the next day.
• Being flat-chested, she had always wanted to have her breasts enlarged since she was a young girl. She said she would then wear her mother’s bra and put water balloons in it, then dance around the house.
