Early life and education
Stephanie was raised in Wellington by her father, a delivery boy who works at the local post office, and her mother, who is a piano teacher. Stephanie became interested in the weather at a very young age and was fascinated by rain and storms, while also enjoying watching TV documentaries about tornadoes and volcanoes.

She continued her education at Florida State University in Tallahassee, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology. While there, she practiced her on-air skills on the “FSU Live” news and weather program, broadcast on a Tallahassee cable channel. After her success in meteorology, she served as a teaching assistant at Florida State University.
