Early life and family
Maribel Guardia was born Maribel del Rocio Garcia Fernandez on May 29, 1959 in San Jose, Costa Rica, to Alvaro Fernandez and Rita Garcia. Not much information is available about her parents or growing up years, except that her mother, Rita, died on June 5, 1968, when Maribel was only nine years old. On her Instagram, she posted the picture of her mother on her death anniversary and mentioned the things she would never forget her like her grace, nobility, goodness and joy. Continued success as an actress
Her film debut was in 1980 with “El Diablo en Persona” (The devil in person), and then she made films almost every year until 1999. She has done more than 35 movies, from minor roles to leading roles. When she wasn’t making movies, she was making telenovelas or soap operas. She first appeared on a television show in 1980 with Mexican actor and comedian Manuel “El Loco” Valdes. However, it was in 1986 when she had her first big break as a lead actor in a soap opera for Televisa titled “Sedducion” (Temptation). Marco has been a good father figure to Julian, eventually representing him when he debuted as a singer. Maribel is now a loving grandmother to Julian’s son, Jose Julian, as evidenced by her posts on her IG as she spends time with her grandson, from having breakfast with him to watching cartoons.
