My Dress-Up Darling Marin figure with removable bikini is more than risky

The My Dress-Up Darling anime is mostly popular for its good story about cosplay fans falling in love, but it has quite the reputation for fan service, especially when it comes to the lead actress, Marin Kitagawa. Now an upcoming My Dress-Up Darling Marin figure is turning heads because not only does it have a removable bikini like Barbie dolls… it’s 100 percent anatomically correct!
The Marin Kitagawa figure is one of the emerging trend of daring anime collectibles that puts our favorite characters in outrageous positions. There’s the SPY x FAMILY Yor Forger figure and the Attack On Titan Eren Yeager figure that showed all about the characters’ bodies. The Eren figure has even stepped things up a giant notch by portraying certain body parts as a… towel rail.

Likewise, ABsinthe Studios’ Marin figure sells for $220.99 for the standard version, featuring Marin’s bikini outfit from the TV show and manga. Made from detailed acrylic, it is 1/6 scale and stands at approximately 12″ including the base. The base itself is a glowing LED describing LOVE in the background.
The advanced version of the Marin figure is where it gets spicy. Technically, the pack is two separate Marin figure statues. The Advanced version comes with two interchangeable head designs and a naked Marin figure body.
And yes, it is very detailed, both above the waist and below. Like Gojo when he first met Juju, you see smooth Hina dolls in your head.

You can purchase the Kitagawa Marin figure set from multiple websites, including: Prefer GK† Some online stores may contain explicit images, so click carefully (Favor GK censors the sample photos). Stores vary when it comes to payment and shipping options, so fans looking to take Marin home should look for the best deal or even add an accompanying figure to their order.
The Kitagawa Marin figure release date (which is subject to change) is Q4 2022. So the My Dress-Up Darling figure is currently only available for pre-order and will be released sometime in Q4 2022 or the arrive in the first quarter of 2023. Keep in mind it’s a limited run of just 198 figures so once it sells out it’s gone unless you can convince a collector to part with the Marin figure in the future.
The Marin figure could resemble the feisty Attack On Titan Mikasa figure from previous years. It was so popular that it sold out and is now only available second-hand at a high price.
Fans of ABSinthe Studios figures should check out the My Dress-Up Darling Marin school uniform figure
Obviously, the Advanced Marin figure isn’t for everyone. Some may want the high detail of the fully clothed standard version of the My Dress-Up Darling figure without paying such a high price (and without having a Marin Kitagawa figure embarrassing to display in public).
Fortunately, there is another option provided by ABSinth Studios. They have a Kitagawa Marin school uniform that is much more modest both in dress and cost.

Priced at $127 USD, it is a 1/6 scale Marin figure that stands 34cm including the base. It is a limited edition of 198 pieces that is also available on pre-order. The release date is TBA.
If you don’t like the specific pose of the Marin figure, there are multiple designs from other companies like Madou Studio ($146) and PRPR Studio ($95). Both designs feature Marin’s school uniform alongside bases that are unique in design. Again, they are limited editions available for pre-order only.
Wait… Isn’t Marin Kitagawa’s age under 18?!
What stands out about the naked Marin figure isn’t just the anatomically correct details, it’s the fact that it depicts an underage teenage girl! The My Dress-Up Darling anime and manga struggles with the same issue with all the fan service scenes, but this Marin figure takes the controversy to a whole new level.
In the anime/manga series, Marin Kitagawa is 15 years old at the beginning of the story. Such rom-com stories usually end around high school graduation, so Marin will be at most 18 years old by the end of the story.
And that’s why this Kitagawa Marin figure isn’t officially licensed…and it certainly isn’t officially sanctioned! Fans shouldn’t get mad at the mainstream figure companies because in cases like this it’s usually a small company, maybe just a few standalones, that uses 3D modeling software and outsources the production of the statues to a resin/garage kit company in China .
Therefore also a limited edition. They take their money and run before copyright infringement lawsuits hit them in the courts.
But it’s also not like ABsinthe Studios is an overnight business. They are also working on a Dragon Ball Goku figure in which the character plays basketball. And, as noted earlier, there is Kitagawa Marin’s school uniform.
