The release date of One Piece RED in Japan is set for August 6, 2022. An international theater premiere for the US, Canada, UK and other English-speaking countries has not yet been announced.

One Piece RED is directed by Goro Taniguchi and produced by Studio Toei Animation. The screenplay is by Tsutomu Kuroiwa. Masamasa Sato is the animation director and will be responsible for character designs. The art director is Hiroshi Kato. Color design by Sayoko Yokoyama. The CG director is Kentaro Kawasaki and the chief director is Tsutomu Ema.

The latest trailer for the upcoming movie One Piece RED confirmed many fans’ suspicions that the mysterious girl depicted in a recently released teaser and character visual is the daughter of Shanks – Uta (song in Japanese).

Uta is a world famous diva in the world of One Piece. The setting of the movie RED takes place on an island where Uta will give her first public concert.

People in the world of One Piece were able to listen to Uta’s singing through their Den Den Mushis (magical transponder snails that act as means of communication). The Den Den Mushis allowed her to hide her true identity as the daughter of the notorious wanted pirate Redhead Shanks.

Uta’s fans from all over the world sail to the island to attend her live concert, including Luffy, who innocently only loves Uta’s singing and has no idea who her father is. Unfortunately for the Straw Hats, the pirate hunters from the Navy and other pirates are also planning to attend the concert.

The story really begins when the shocking fact is discovered that Uta is Shank’s daughter. Fans speculate that Gordon is the one who betrayed Shank’s trust and friendship by revealing the secret that Uta is his daughter.

It was discussed in the tweet below that he hinted in an interview with the producer that Gordon would be less of a villain who had to physically beat Luffy and more of a side antagonist who manipulated the events behind the scenes.

Gordon is a new character featured in an illustration released by Eiichiro Oda (the original author and general producer of the One Piece movie RED) featuring Uta, Shanks and Gordon. Gordon is a burly man with a large scar on his head who seems to be good friends with Shanks. Whether Gordon is Uta’s bodyguard or butler or nemesis remains to be seen.

The latest trailer opens with a young Uta standing next to Shank. Suddenly, Shanks says, “Uta, even though we’re apart, you’ll always be my daughter.” This statement confirms that Uta is indeed Shank’s daughter.

Next, a young Uta is seen crying as she is forcibly separated from her father Shanks. Then we see Uta as a young woman, now a diva, standing on a stage to sing in front of a huge audience of adoring fans.

Luffy screams Uta’s name in such a way that it looks like Uta is in danger (is she about to be executed for being a pirate’s daughter?)

Anime fans will just have to wait until the One Piece RED release date to hear the truth about Shank’s daughter Uta. Stay tuned!
