Monsta X’s Jooheon Makes His First Acting Debut in “Lost in America”
Jooheon from K-pop group Monsta X will reportedly make its acting debut in the upcoming Netflix original movie Lost in America. The Korea Herald exclusively announced on November 21, 2022 that the rapper is now preparing for the role. An industry source confirmed the South Korean rapper’s status as a K-pop star who speaks good English, the article said.
Cha Eun-woo of ASTRO was contacted in July to star in the K-pop based Hollywood film, according to South Korean news portal StarNews. If all goes according to plan, the two Korean artists will make their Hollywood debut together. According to Deadline, the project has already recruited Pitch Perfect Australian actress Rebel Wilson and Riverdale actor Charles Melton.
Jooheon will play a K-pop star trapped in the United States in the next Netflix movie.
Jooheon, popularly known as Joohoney, is a rapper, singer, songwriter and producer who is about to make his acting debut. The 28-year-old had previously expressed his desire to perform to his followers during a live broadcast. When asked if he would ever work in the field, Jooheon replied:
“Acting? If I get the chance to act, I’ll take it. Every time I watch a drama, I say to myself, ‘Those performers in those dramas are really great.’
The upcoming film, co-produced by CJ ENM and Interstellar producer Lynda Obst, tells the story of a K-pop band who find themselves stranded in Waco, Texas, just days before their major US debut in New York City, with no money or phones. The film tells of the ensuing conflict. Yoon Je-kyun, known for films such as Ode to My Father and Haeundae, will helm the film and they plan to hire both K-pop stars and pop business artists to appeal to a global audience. In an August statement from CJ ENM, he added:
“The screenplay is now being written, with the aim of starting shooting in the first part of next year.” We want to work with the best workforce in the industry.”
According to an entertainment company official, the film aims to increase the value of K content, which is in high demand by viewers around the world.
“We anticipate the birth of a new film that represents the global interest in K-pop and Hallyu content, as well as the trend of diversity.” We will do our very best to make the highest quality film possible.”

Since the announcement of the film in 2021, there has been a lot of interest online. However, the news of Jooheon’s participation in the film woke up his MONBEBEs, who took to Twitter to show their enthusiasm and support for their idol. Once the casting process is over, shooting for Lost in America will begin next year. It will also be released in 2023. According to the Korea Herald, Starship Entertainment has confirmed Jooheon’s casting.
