Lin Brehmer passed away at the age of 68
Lin Brehmer, a well-known DJ and radio personality passed away on January 22, 2023, at the age of 68, after a long battle with cancer. His funeral arrangements are currently unavailable. Along with his usual audience, other prominent stars and influential figures have taken to social media to offer their condolences and respect him through poignant messages. Los Lobos, a rock band, paid respect to Brehmer on Facebook by uploading a photo and expressing their thoughts on the former radio host, writing:
“There was no greater friend or supporter on the planet than you. When he got up and played maracas with us at his birthday party, his grin could have lit up Wrigley. Our brother, may you rest in peace.”
Radio station 93XRT also expressed their grief in a Facebook post, writing:
“It is with great sadness that we inform you that we have all lost our dear friend. Lin Brehmer fought cancer as long as he could. He passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by his wife and children. His XRT family will be remembering the amazing life of our best friend in the whole world tomorrow at 10am. We will be there for each other during this heartbreaking moment. Lin would appreciate it. “Don’t take anything for granted.”
Meanwhile, WGN-TV film critic and entertainment reporter Dean Richards characterized Brehmer as an incredible talent as well as a compassionate and passionate human being.
Lin Brehmer took a leave of absence from work to undergo chemotherapy.
Lin Brehmer had been battling prostate cancer for quite some time before his death. In July last year, he announced his intention to take the same break. He said the same thing in a tweet, explaining:

Born on August 19, 1954, Brehmer became interested in radio when he attended Colgate University. He started his career as a DJ on WQBK-FM before becoming music director at WXRT. He then became program director of KTCZ-FM before returning to WXRT. Later, Brehmer teamed up with news anchor Mary L. Dixon. He always called himself the best friend in the world, and his catchphrase “it’s great to be alive” was popular with his admirers and followers. He was involved in the development of Lin’s Bin writings, which were eventually televised.
