Although season 3 of The Witcher has not yet premiered Netflix just announced a big change Coming to Season 4: Liam Hemsworth replaces Henry Cavill as the titular Geralt of Rivia. Both actors posted about the change on Instagram, with Liam Hemsworth saying: he’s “over the moon about being able to play Geralt of Rivia.” Neither Netflix nor Cavill have given a reason for the casting change.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia is filled with monsters as well as adventures, and alas, I’ll be laying down my locket and my swords for Season 4,” said Cavill on Instagram. “In my place, the wonderful Mr Liam Hemsworth will take on the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time I’ve spent embodying Geralt and the enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced man.”
