Lego releases 2,807-piece Bowser set for adults
In October Lego will release the biggest set so far in its Super Mario line – a 2,807-piece model of the King of the Koopas itself. The Mighty Bowser set becomes part of Lego’s nice but not infantilizing line for adults known as Adults Welcome. If you take a closer look at the Super Koopa figure, it’s clear that it takes much more advanced spatial reasoning skills to build than the rest of Lego’s Super Mario theme queue aimed at youth. In addition to Super Bowser with its own Lego version of a fireball launcher, there’s also a button to control the figure’s movements and a full battle platform for Bowser, complete with two towers intended for the villain to topple.
When fans are finally done building their Lego version of Bowser, the fun is far from over. After all, there’s no point owning a Super Koopa posable figure that’s bigger than your average house cat if you can’t use it to unleash chaos and destruction. For those who have the Super Mario starter course(including toy versions of Mario, Luigi and Peach) Lego suggests using the completed Bowser figurine to wreak some havoc in the Mushroom Kingdom. Given the size of our heroes, it certainly won’t be a fair fight.
“Bowser is simply the ultimate boss – and we’re excited to announce that we’re introducing this oversized version to the LEGO Super Mario line for adults, for a little extra risk,” said Lego senior designer Carl Merriam in a statement. release†
At $270, the Bowser set is the most expensive in Super Mario’s two-year-old Lego series to date. The set is not yet available for pre-order, but will hit stores on October 1. Super Mario fans can look forward to more expansion sets to be unveiled in August, including a Princess Peach themed set and a Big Spike extension set.
