What is the Kumamoto Revival Project?

In April 2016, a series of earthquakes struck Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan. The two most devastating quakes were 6.2 and 7.0 on the Richter scale. After the earthquakes, Eiichiro Oda, author of One Piece and from Kumamoto Prefecture, donated 800 million for reconstruction and started the ONE PIECE Kumamoto Revival Project with the aim of inspiring reconstruction. In April 2018, the government of Kumamoto awarded Oda the “People’s Honor Award” to recognize his contributions to the relief effort.
