Bio and early life
Kalidou Koulibaly was born on June 20, 1991 in Saint-Die-des-Vosges, France, to Senegalese parents. Gemini is his zodiac sign. He is both French and Senegalese by nationality and he is of African descent.
Koulibaly started playing football at Saint-Die when he was only eight years old. After four years he transferred to Metz, but in 2006 he returned to his old club. Koulibaly went back to Metz in 2009.
Kalidou Koulibaly football career
On 23 August 2012, Swiss team Luzern defeated Genk 2-1 in the first leg of a two-way play-off for the UEFA European Championship. This was Koulibaly’s first game with Genk. Between October 6 and October 19, 2013, he scored two goals in two games. On 2 July 2014, he signed a five-year contract with Serie A club SSC Napoli for around £6.5 million.
He then scored a header against league leaders Juventus to give the visitors a 1–0 win at the Allianz Stadium on 22 April 2018. With four games to go, Napoli are now just one point behind Juventus, while Juventus are still in the lead.
Cup of Italy
On 17 June 2020, Koulibaly played in the Coppa Italia Final against Juventus. After a scoreless draw, Napoli won the game 4–2 on penalties. Koulibaly has said on more than one occasion that he wants to end his career at Napoli and would only leave if the club made a business decision.
He was named Serie A Player of the Month for September 2021. On 24 November 2021, he played his 300th game for Napoli, a Europa League defeat against Spartak Moscow by a score of 2–1.
Koulibaly signed a four-year contract with Premier League club Chelsea on July 16, 2022. The fee is said to be around £33 million. On August 6, he played his first game for Chelsea, who beat Everton 1-0 in the league. Koulibaly scored Chelsea’s first goal on his home debut against Tottenham Hotspur on 14 August. He did it with a powerful volley in a 2-2 draw in the league.
His international and FIFA 22 career
Koulibaly continued to play against Juventus in the Coppa Italia final on 17 June 2020. After a scoreless draw, Napoli won the match 4–2 on penalties. He was part of the Senegalese team that went to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
In May 2018, Koulibaly was named to Senegal’s 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. After that, Koulibaly was chosen as center back for the 26-man national team squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
