He was also the host of his own show – “Renovate My Family”.
Take a look at the life of Dr. Phil’s son as we gather everything there is to know about him.
Early life and family
Jay Phillip McGraw was born on September 12, 1979 and will turn 41 later this year (2020). Jay’s hometown is in the province of Wichita, Texas, USA, and he is the oldest of two boys born to Phillip and his wife Robin. Jay’s younger brother Jordan pursued a career in music as Jay followed in his father’s footsteps. Jay had spent most of his life in Texas, including college.
With his father’s success, he could have been expected to have a lavish and wealthy upbringing, but a mostly quiet childhood.
Jay graduated from Greenhill High School in Addison, Texas, and completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Texas, Austin. Jay continued his studies at Southern Methodist University in Plano, Texas, where he earned a Juris Doctor of Law degree.
Jay’s career started when he published his first books; these were all titles aimed at improving the lives of children and teens. He established himself as an author with titles such as “The Ultimate Weight Solution For Teens: The Seven Keys to Weight Freedom”, “Life Strategies for Teens”, and “Closing The Gap: A Strategy For Bringing Parents and Teens Together”.
Jay co-founded the production house Stage 29 Productions with the help of his father, Dr Phil, and has also assisted in a number of productions of the Dr Phil Show.
His production career has had many highlights and has earned him a few awards; these productions include “Decision House”‘ in 2007, “The Doctors” in 2008, and in 2016 he was the producer from “Taurus”.
Jay was also the host of the popular reality TV series “Renovate My Family” dedicated to renovating the homes and lives of ordinary American citizens in need of help. It was on the set of the show that Jay met his future wife Erica, who is one of a set of triplets.
In addition, Jay is also one popular personality and motivational speaker, appearing on shows such as “The Early Show,” “Good Morning America,” “Entertainment Tonight,” and “Today and Extra.”
Jay was also a columnist, with articles for ‘Cosmo Girl’ and ‘Seventeen’ magazine. In recent times, Jay has continued his career as the chairman and co-founder of ‘Doctor on Demand’ with Adam Jackson. He is also the owner of ‘RumorFixed’, a website that has been criticized for being too similar to ‘Gossip Cop’.
Hobbies, favorite things and interesting facts
Jay is certainly a talented man. Not only did he complete two very difficult degrees on varsity, but he is also a capable athlete.
He is proficient at golf and enjoys playing the sport, but stays active by practicing Taekwondo, and has even been rated with a black belt in the martial art of his choice. In addition, is both a certified aviator and a diver. With all that brain and the power behind it, he was sure of a successful life.
Jay has only had one romantic involvement that caught the public eye, and that happens to be with his soul mate and partner, Erica Dahm.
