I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss anime release date Fall 2022

The fall 2022 anime season is getting some strong releases such as a sequel to the Bleach anime and the My Hero Academia Season 6 anime. Fans of the light novel 2017 Akuyaku Reijou nano the Last Boss with Kattemimashita have a treat in store for them too with an anime adaptation slated for October!
What’s been confirmed so far is that Studio Maho Film – the studio behind Winter 2022’s In the Land of Leadale anime – and director Kumiko Habara will lead the production. What is unknown is how close the anime will stay to the light novel and the manga plotline. The trailer featured scenes based on manga panels, but other than the change of a few names (which could largely be translation differences), it’s hard to know for sure.

Thankfully, three members of what will no doubt be a strong voice cast have been announced! Rie Takahashi plays protagonist Aileen Lauren Dautriche – the evil daughter – and is best known for her role as Emilia in Re:Zero. Goblin Slayer fans will likely recognize the voice of the helmet-clad slayer himself, Yuichiro Umehara, as the demon king. And the crown prince is played by none other than Toshiki Masuda, most recently known for his role as Kirishima in Boku no Hero Academia.
What is the plot of I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss?
A young girl, terminally in her hospital bed, uses otome games to escape harsh reality. One day, when she wakes up, she finds herself in a familiar scene: Crown Prince Cedric Jeanne Elmir breaks off the engagement between him and his betrothed. Only this time the main character plays the role of the evil ex-fiancé, Aileen Lauren Dautriche.
Furious and humiliated to be publicly rejected in front of the entire court, Aileen flees the castle before she can be banished. With memories of the game’s plot in her head, she knows what needs to be done to avoid the bad final route. And that’s what leads her to enlist the help of the demon king Claude Jeanne Elmir – the brother of her former fiancé.
When Aileen arrives at the Demon King’s castle, all signs point to her returning. King Claude is known for his rule over the monsters of the land and for his raging temper that triggers natural disasters. He is not an easy ally to get. But despite the apparent threat, Aileen approaches the demon king and demands that he marry her.
Where can I catch up on the plot before the fall 2022 anime release?
Based on a web novel of the same name, I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss, received a minor novel adaptation in 2017. To read the light novel in eBook format, grab the first two parts on Book Walker. Unfortunately, the novels were never officially translated into English in paperback, but Japanese readers can pick up all nine parts at retailers such as AmazonJP, Kadokawa and more.
In 2018, Comp Ace – the publisher of the manga series Overlord and Youjo Senki – serialized Akuyaku Reijou nanode Last Boss wo Kattemimashita as a manga. As with the light novel release, getting a copy for non-Japanese readers can be difficult. Hopefully that will change after the release of the fall 2022 anime. But luckily there is one translated eBook available. Those who want pick up all three volumes of the manga can do this at AmazonJP, Book-Walker and other retailers.
